Just think of Patrick MacNee's character as a retired-for-a-decade John Steed thinking "I say, wouldn't one last mission be fun?" and harking back to one of the various occasions he went undercover as somebody's butler. Sorry, Steed.  But we did at least get him, Cathy Gale, Emma Peel and Purdey in various Bond films.

I'm with you, I like LTK a lot but sometimes its soundtrack in conjunction with its cast just makes me feel like I could be watching Die Hard instead

I finally saw No Time to DIe and as a Bond film I thought it was absolutely terrible. -The end does not work at all, its lazy and kinda comes out of nowhere. -Lashana Lynch was much better than I expected from the trailers but the big problem is that her character has no bearing on the plot at all, you could edit out all her scenes and the movie would barely change. It feels like a late tacked on addition for whatever reason. This is unforgivable in a movie that already has too much plot going on in it for a Bond film. -Lea Seydoux was underrated in Spectre and shes one of the very few good things here. -The only real Bond girl in this movie is Ana De Armas and guess what shes the best part of the film but only in it for like 5 minutes. Ugh, Why? Why would you get someone as beautiful and charismatic as Ana De Armas for a Bond girl and only give her a glorified cameo? Jesus... -You really did Felix like that? Oh right, its Craig's last movie so who cares. -Rami Malek's villain is bad, like really bad to the point where just having Blofeld being the main villain controlling everything from prison with his eyeball would've been better. -The action set pieces in this were generic and forgettable, not one stands out. -Bond doesn't feel or act like Bond in this movie at all. Very disappointing end to the Craig era which started out with the best film in the entire franchise and goes out on a total whimper here. SPECTRE is way better than this poo poo. Spectre I was almost down with til the finale just completely shat the bed in parodic fashion. Like, Bond shoots a helicopter down with a pistol and the bad guy gets taken away by London bobbies, the gently caress Then again, I feel like a Bond film is a disappointment if it doesn't end with a finale worthy of a Metal Gear game

In Golden Gun Bond's kill count is 1. The movie is no better or worse for it. When Bond turns into Commando, a favorite of mine, it misses the point.

I do like the part of the scene at the end of Spectre where Craig is shooting with the casual one-handed grip, but then he smoothly opens the stock on the gun, looks down the sight and takes out a few guys on the helipad with a few expertly places shots.

NTTD is the most obviously re-written movie ever. Lynch's character and the entire Cuba section being basically optional is just a symptom. Fundamentally a film or any other story should emerge from a basic plot created by a writer, and not be reworked and focus grouped and remixed six times before release with whole characters being dropped or added. That may be the industry standard Hollywood method, but that is why Hollywood produces poo poo films so frequently.

I just watched my first 3 Bond films. No idea why the series escaped me all these years. I was born in 90 so I'm not a zoomer or anything. Watched the first 3 Daniel Craig films back to back and holy gently caress they were great. CR and Skyfall had me at the edge of my seat. So much perfection I've ignored all this time. I did not know anything coming in. No trailers or videos to spoil me. Didn't recognize Silva was Anton til after the film (terrible at recognizing faces). He is excellent. Or that Le Chiffre was Mads. QOS was just an average movie but not as bad as I've heard through osmosis. I did fall asleep for 10 of the last 15 minutes and didn't think I missed anything. I got the box set and NTTD so I'm gonna finish the Craig saga and watch the rest but man what a ride so far. I really, REALLY love the opening credits for every one of them. They deserve an award themselves.

I did miss the OHMSS song so I’ll have to watch it again. I liked this one. I would place it after Casino Royale and Skyfall though. I do feel like Craig is the best Bond, Timothy Dalton second.

If you intend to watch them in chronological order after you finish the Craig Bonds then you are in the unfortunate position where you will end your marathon on Die Another Day. But at least you will have a true appreciation for not only what a bad piece of media it is on it's own, but also have the ability to be viscerally offended by what they have done to the franchise - therefore solidifying your emotional bond to the previous Bond movies you've watched.

You could always do the Brosnans in order then go back to Dr. No through to License to Kill. You wouldn't be missing anything, plus there was a massive time break and tonal shift between Dalton and Brosnan.

if possible when doing a Bond marathon, try to add in the fan edit of Never Say Never Again "Never Say McClory Again" that adds traditional Bond elements (Bond theme/gun barrel intro) into the movie.

The husband and I rewatched Quantum of Solace yesterday and exclaimed at the same time that the theme song for that one really loving blows. I’ve never been a fan of Jack White though. In contrast, the Skyfall theme is incredible!

The thing that is so great about Bond films that makes them fun to go back and watch today is the travelogue aspect. Every Bond film has these unique and exotic locations, they're usually shot beautifully, and you usually get several of them in each film.

The movie ends with All the Time in the World, sung, and instrumental version is played when he drives the car at the beginning, and the opening theme for OHMSS is played when he returns to MI6 in a slower version. This is definitely one of the best Bond scores overall, and subtly including those themes worked.

Looking it up, I think that was just the song "Man of War" that was actually from the 90s. That got rejected for the stupid Oscar reasons, Radiohead went back and had a go at an original Spectre song, and then the producers just thought it was too sad lol

Regarding Bond songs: I was surprised to find out that a lot of Bond fans don't like Nobody Does It Better. Not sure I'd put it in top 5 since there are some serious bangers, but I like it way better than a fair lot of them. It's a bit schmaltzy, a bit tacky, but I can't deny that I enjoy it. I guess I should go back an relisten to them, though, refresh my memory some. I didn't like NTTD's theme in the theater, but it was buoyed by a cool credit sequence and I did find myself humming it a few times over the following weeks. Better than The Writing's On The Wall, at least.

Roger Moore has two of the best in View To A Kill and Live and Let Die, and one of the biggest pop hits in For Your Eyes Only, so the rest are barely worth mentioning in that company.
