Timby posted:Die Another Day and Spectre are both utterly miserable slogs. TWINE is rough and way too long, and pretty much everyone but Robert Carlyle is sleepwalking through it, but it has enough cool set pieces and a killer theme song to be watchable. All downhill from Goldeneye.

So worst Bond song? Hell I know sorta the most off the top of my head and am missing some but my pick goes to Octopussy.

Watching FYEO. Forgot this was the one with helicopter at the start. And shoot me, I have a soft spot for Diamonds.

For Moore... The Spy Who Loved Me For Your Eyes Only Campy Moore... A View to a Kill (hell it has Walken in it and the blimp scene) Octopussy (Still a little tough for me to recommend, but it has grown on me)

Diamonds are Forever is a guilty pleasure of mine because I have nostalgia for old Vegas and Mustangs. And let's be honest, the tropes generated from that made other films possible.

Barudak posted:If the song View to a Kill wasn't so drat good the score of View to a Kill would be terrible, what with its songs "View to a Kill (tension)" and "View to a Kill (romantic)" and "View to a Kill (battle)". Instead drat its good. Hell, it is Duran Duran. They could take a dump in a studio and it would sound pleasant.

Gee thanks, I may have to watch one of my least favorite Bond films thanks to you goons.

Yeah, Yaphet Kotto blowing up like a balloon and Sheriff Pepper. Good stuff.

DarkSol posted:I laugh all the time whenever there’s a scene with Sheriff Pepper. An absolute caricature of what my Cajun relatives are like. Oh, it is good stuff. But we also have to look at Pepper in a more nuanced fashion and not some crawfish eating man of the law. He did after all vacation in Thailand which demonstrated a more cultured version of the dear Sheriff.

I like how we can't get higher than 8 or 9 yet lets use a couple digit placeholder in case we have 999 agents.

Pepper took eyewitness accounts of the third nipple. Hence why he is in the movie. Who knows how the composite sketch was handled.

Finished it. Yeah, I think the ye old 3rd act is what made me a little harsh on Moonraker. Shuttles launching from the middle of rainforests, laser weaponry, radar jamming an entire space station and now we are able to haul space marines at a moment's notice. I know I know...bond movie. Part of its charm.

I'll admit I haven't watched all the Craig ones all the way through. I dunno, dour Bond doesn't do it for me. There are a ton of Bond films, and we all sort of remember bits and pieces. I want to live in a world where each one has its own video game with the quality of Goldeneye. Hell, Live and Let Die would be pretty cool for the insanity. "007...obtain hairspray and lighter, burn poisonous snake, sleep with agent."

Civilian posted:I’d suggest that the (in)famous sequence with Blofeld is generally considered a bit off the wall. “I’ll buy you a delicatessen, in stainless steel!” is a standout line. Points taken lol. From what I heard Moore didn't like the car kicking scene which he should have. Guess what I'm saying it was a straight-forward type thing (besides the mountain climbing scenes) and well how to ignore the ice skater?

He's probably getting constant recruiter cold calls, B-tier villains wanting to see if he can provide some part time hench consulting. Yes, Jaws at the time had what would be considered a very good "LinkedIn" profile with all of his networking and past work. However, it was mostly contained within the pages of Soldier of Fortune magazine.

Anyways, it's taste, it's music, I don't know what we're gonna get out of this. Called forums. Everyone has a different opinion so if you make one, well we might have another.

But then it has that stupid fight back at the palace, but the plane finale is badass and incredible to see! It is sort of a mixed bag (the palace pole vault poo poo) but I find it ok.
