does race matter much now that robots can cast spells? wanna be an edgy oni lady but don't wanna back myself into a corner for class selection. i'm assuming it works pretty well with a controller considering it's on the xbone too?

can't wait to be super confused and lost

CASTS are locked out of some outfits but in turn non-CASTS can't use their unique robotic units, some of which are pretty cool and/or cute

fashion is the only thing that even matters. played a HuCAST almost exclusively back in the day, as much as i don't want to betray the robots, i wanna wear pants.

Also any single character can level every class to max and even swap between missions freely, so don’t even worry about your starting class choice. You can just pick something else if you don’t end up liking it.

no switching penalty or anything? nuts! the biggest thing i hate about MMOs is getting locked in. so i assume the caveat is you won't always have a good MAG for the class you want.

can't wait to see everyone in 2 weeks when the downloads finish!

well, game just straight up won't boot and crashes with no error message after the GameGuard loading. loving around with file permissions and all the other tricks floating around does nothing, and after a reboot it had to completely redownload and reinstall. good job MS, really nailed the launch of an 8 year old game on your own system. this is the kind of bullshit i had to deal with playing Ragnarok private servers as a kid, and even those usually worked.

finally got this thing to work. turns out the issue is GameGuard hates Nahimic 2 and will absolutely not let the game launch if it's running. bizarre.

been having a ton of fun as a Braver, have no idea what to subclass as but i'd assume Hunter? i've been messing around with Techter too, also very fun and cool to be a jack of all trades and Wands should really be called Maces. haven't even touched my skill points yet due to a horrific fear of crippling my character and the lack of build guides.

the Volcano is quite the step up from the Forest, drat. i could run the Forest and barely get hit, went in with the same cockiness to the Volcano, and got absolutely reamed by Vol Dragon. good times.

anecdotally, i've seen people with the exact same issue say doing the install through PSO2 Tweaker solved that instantly. don't quote me on it, a lot of the tech support around this game is voodoo atm, but it's worth a try.

kind of a dumb question, but are Skill Points earned and spent per class, or is it a pool for a single character split across all classes? tried googling it but i can't phrase it right to find the info

awesome, thank you! i kind of figured given how the class system works, but was putting off spending points until i knew 100%

when flipping through anime dress up outfits on the player shops, is there any way to make the preview less tiny and useless? really don't want to drop half my meseta on something that ends up looking like garbage on my character

e: nevermind i'm stupid and didn't realize going a step farther would give you the normal shop preview

how exactly does the grouping for Urgent Quests even work? i managed to get into a grouped one earlier today, but when it flipped over to the Dark Falz Luther boss fight, i couldn't manage to get in to any instances with anyone else, and no one else joined mine, so i just wasted a half hour beating him up for nothing.

is there a certain katana i should be aiming for around level 45-50, or do i just keep running the VHAQ loop and praying? not complaining either way, the game finally feels like the right difficulty now.

if you tell me i have to farm that area with the conveyor belts and all the traps i'll scream though

i was looking at doing this but there's so drat many currencies and swap shops and poo poo in this game it's really really hard to tell if you're making a decent choice or just loving yourself in the end. this could be a complete joke post for the old heads and i'd never know

I'm level 47 Braver. Is that high enough to try these capsule quests? What's the best way to find a group to do them?

If I'm still too low level for that, should I just mindlessly grind missions? Is there something specific to level quickest?

that's right about when i jumped in on my Braver and i had no trouble at all. everything hits like a truck so you have to have a little more situational awareness than normal, but other than that. i find i'll get some randos hopping into my VHAQ within about two minutes, usually at least one person instantly.

holy poo poo do the technical issues and age make this a hard sell. i was having fun until my computer rebooting and the patch just deciding to make my game not launch at all. but in a different way than the way i already fixed, of course. there's no way i could rec this game to someone in 2020 unless they really really like Free to Play Anime Dress-up.

is there much of a goon presence on Ship 3 or am i looking at buying a server transfer in the future when my IRL pals inevitably get bored? running VHAQs alone or with NPCs is hard and i've had no luck with parties today

Million Ghosts

what, are server transfer just not something PSO2 does? i don't care about spending cash for it eventually, but if it's not an option then gently caress that's pretty sad for a game this old

after the last update i had to completely wipe the MutableBackups folder with WizTree twice to get it to stick, hunt down a bunch of stray bullshit files, and do a full Tweaker install to get it to work. noting that if you botch any step the whole thing is hosed and you have to start again, including a full re-download

i'm relatively Good At Computer and even i had a hell of a time fixing my broken install after the first patch, the average user is basically hosed. i'm not sure if MS just heavily prioritized the xbone version to the point of completely neglecting PC, if the Windows Store really is that awful, if some weird internal politics happened, or some combo of all 3. if this was a paid new release, people would be extremely pissed. MS is lucky this game is old and relatively niche in appeal, and even then it got a little article in Forbes.

unfortunately it's still really fun so i'm stuck here :negative:

restarted on Ship 2, cause Ship 3 is basically empty already, and have been playing as a Gunner. is my basic game plan just get right up in poo poo's faces, blast away, and do a lot of backflips? it seems to work so far, but i feel like i'm missing something. also had really bad luck with Disc drops so far, probably has something to do with it.

most mid-tier anime is only japanese voice acting? and reading garbled rear end subtitles suuuuuuuuuuuuucks. plus it aired in 2016, even if MS and Sega had worked out the translation and publishing deal, it was way before the "mainstream" NA audience would care.

e: to clarify, i mean mid-tier in terms of budget, marketing, and studio push, not quality. lots of garbage gets all star voice casts.

well look at that i'm dumb and don't know poo poo. kinda speaks to the "mid-tier" descriptor though. if it's that recent it might get dub money from Funimation when voice studios start back up, they're definitely more into that than most publishers.

i'm not sure if you're referring to me or the guy who asked if the subtitles were a "not quite there translation" but i prefer subtitles in literally all media if possible and just get really pissy when they're half assed or bad. Netflix anime is horrible for it.

is there like a general strategy/flowchart/whatever i should be using at the Casino? i've barely touched it but gleaned from this thread it's less gambling and more timed payouts, or at least some games.
