The Truman thing is apparently about whether or not to go through with the midlife refueling and overhaul in 2024. Seems odd to not do it but the Pentagon apparently announces back in February that they’d start decommissioning the ship instead when the refueling is necessary.

While we are building new carriers it seems weird for the CNO to want a smaller fleet.

Yes, absolutely. That maneuver nearly caused a nascar-esq pile up which would’ve resulted in horses and jocks dying.

The horse probably spooked when it saw the largest crowd it’s ever seen coming around the final turn. You don’t have “the best horse” if they’re not under control.

Usually “he” fixes typos so I wonder if that’ll be deleted. Or if its some sort of subtle dig to Mitch McConnell.

Regarding the weapons, horse racing was pretty mad max before the... 1920s(?) or so. Eventually they put stewards in raised platforms at each turn instead of only at the grandstands so they could disqualify anyone pulling those stunts.

What happened with these stupid horses that is making stupid people lose their minds?

The horse that was first across the finish line in the Kentucky derby was disqualified. On the last turn the horse was on the outside ("4 position" I think they said), the horse spooked when the crowd came into view and cut across to a line nearest the rail ("1 position"). One or more horses were "interfered with" which is a euphemism for a collision or a forcing another jockey to take action to prevent one.

Nah, Contempt of Congress is no biggie and they're mostly doing it to strengthen the fight in court to get the full Mueller Report. They can't really do the whole Inherent Contempt Lockerup thing because as AG, he gets guards and that would be kind of awkward for a Sergeant-at-arms to deal with. Plus, they're going after him regarding the report, not his House testimony that he blew off.

More or less one more step to strengthen the court case, as the federal courts don't like stepping into branch disputes unless one particular side showed they're properly negotiating and the other isn't.

The sergeant at arms can at least serve it and see what they say.

There's an old (1848) law that states:
"If any person whatsoever shall, within the United Kingdom or without, compass, imagine, invent, devise, or intend to deprive or depose our Most Gracious Lady the Queen, from the style, honour, or royal name of the imperial crown of the United Kingdom, or of any other of her Majesty’s dominions and countries, or to levy war against her Majesty, within any part of the United Kingdom, in order by force or constraint to compel her to change her measures or counsels, or in order to put any force or constraint upon or in order to intimidate or overawe both Houses or either House of Parliament, or to move or stir any foreigner or stranger with force to invade the United Kingdom or any other of her Majesty's dominions or countries under the obeisance of her Majesty, and such compassings, imaginations, inventions, devices, or intentions, or any of them, shall express, utter, or declare, by publishing any printing or writing ... or by any overt or deed, every person so offending shall be guilty of felony, and being convicted thereof shall be liable ... to be transported beyond the seas for the term of his or her natural life."

If you take it as written, anyone in the entire world that even dreams of getting rid of Queen Victoria is liable.

Luckily, Q Vic is long gone, so we're free to think/talk/act however we want with regard to ditching the monarchy.
