This is Sandler's first time hosting, unbelievable that it took 24 years since he left. He's been back a few times in a cameo capacity - sang a song in 1996, did a bit with Smigel, Herlihy, and Downey at the 25th in 1999, and the memorable "That's When You Break" short from the 40th in 2015. But after nearly a quarter-century of making mostly mediocre movies (Punch Drunk Love and Funny People notwithstanding,) he's going back to what he's most fondly remembered: Making weird noises and faces, then smiling  Tonight's music is from Shawn Mendes.Next week, Emma Thompson (yes, the one who was in Love, Actually and played Professor Trelawney in Harry Potter) makes her unexpected hosting debut, with The Jonas Brothers, and Paul Rudd returns for his fourth time to close out the season with

It's important to remember that all of the memorable cast members of the early 90s were fired in 95 and then several of them immediately became movie stars. I think that's why it took Sandler so long to come back.

Not got much to say other than so hype for Sandler and I really really hope it isn't just a mediocre evening where we keep hoping for greatness and being let down  That aside, the Jonas Brothers reformed? Last I heard, the oldest had settled into Christian family life and the others were solidly solo. Seems quick to get the band back together but I don't really care either way.

Am I the only one who thinks Sandler will be a disaster? The problematic nature of most of his bits has already been covered, but I really can't remember him doing any characters...can he do voices besides his default Opera Man? Anywho, unless this week's episode is going to be a 90-minute Update with a series of mediocre Sandler bits, I'm not sure what they're going to do...
