It's time for smoke, wind machines, swearing at the national juries, and drunkenly figuring out bloc voting is going to
go this year!

Last year, Netta took her Pikachu home right back to Israel, where this year's contest is being held in Tel Aviv,
for the first time in 20 years since the country last won the contest!

edit: This was the live performance, but those jerks have geoblocked the 2018 live videos outside Europe, so instead
have Lynda Woodruff's cover of it, plus Eric Saade covered in feathers

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ceFmiihREw0

This year's contest takes place the week of 12 May with 41 countries participating. Semi-Final 1 is on 14 May,
Semi-Final 2 is on 16 May, and the Grand Final is on 18 May.

This year's contest is happening at the Expo Tel Aviv. In... Tel Aviv!

Once a year, the internet becomes flooded with ridiculously strange/awesome images, GIFs, and music videos that
resemble nothing so much as American Idol on LSD.

The Eurovision Song Contest is the longest-running annual international TV song competition, held primarily among the
member countries of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) since 1956.

Each participating country submits an original song to be performed on live television and radio and then casts votes for
the other countries' songs to determine the most popular song in the competition.

Viewers in the countries of the Participating Broadcasters are invited to vote for their favourite songs (without the
possibility of voting for the song representing their own country) by means of televoting, which shall be implemented in
all the countries of the Participating Broadcasters. In both Semi-Finals and in the Final, the final scores of the songs in
each country shall be calculated on the basis of both the results of televoting and the National Jury's vote.

Since 2008, the Eurovision Song Contest consists of three live shows, aired prime-time to millions of homes across Europe.
During two Semi-Finals, viewers and juries across Europe determine which countries will be represented in the Final.

Some famous artists have gotten their start in the ESC, such as Celine Dion and ABBA. Why we actually care is this contest
gives life to performances that can only be described as Eurovision such as the ones mentioned below
(Though there are many others as well.)

Winning the Eurovision Song Contest provides a short-term boost to the winning artists' career, but rarely results in
long-term success.

This section is usually longer, but all that's really changed this year is that Bulgaria and
Ukraine have left the competition. Nobody's come back, so we're at 41 this year.

Goon vote at http://crucialweb.net/eurovision as usual.

I usually do test runs of the site to make sure it works but I won’t be able to do that this year so we’ll just have to hope for the best.

The drinking rule sheet I have I believe is the one that the Op used to have, which is http://crucialweb.net/eurovision/drinking I believe I made a few edits just so you can print it across two pages cleanly. There’s also a Eurovision Drinking Twitter feed that takes the hard part out but I have no idea how well it’ll sync.

Voting drink sheet also at http://crucialweb.net/eurovision/drinking/voting.html
