Navigate:

It exists(?)! Much easier to :justpost: and click the link below it.

I don't know if it has been mentioned, but it would be nice if a thread OP or a mod could add bookmarks or tags to a thread that could jump to an important or noteworthy post. I'd like to be able to get through the filler of busy threads and see the good content.

Op can do that now. Mods, at least me, aren’t going to curate threads for goons down to the post. Lol

In which case, could we have a way for a mod to make a different user owner of the OP so that they can take responsibility for keeping the list of bookmarks current when the OP shits their pants nine pages in?

This would be a godsend, there are too many orphaned OPs.

It's probably been mentioned a million times by now, but I'd like to add a(nother?) request for a dark theme mode. YOSPOS's custom theme is pretty nice for browsing the forums at night. [The correct greenpos theme, I mean. There is no other theme but greenpos. (PBUH)]

Sure you can use extensions and add ons, but those don't always work on phones/tablets.

Also if the YOSPOS theme can be made optional in the User Control Panel, or wherever, can we also have the BYOB theme? It's a very good and soothing theme, and makes me happy to look at.

The Awful app has themes and they work fairly well.

Not being a jerk, but why does this bother you? If the thread is good it will self sustain, otherwise it dies naturally or is gassed.

Yeah, I don’t know how you’d do that though.

It's pretty annoying in the megathreads in SCHC for computer parts. If you just wanna take a quick look at which parts have the Goon Seal of Approval™ and the OP hasn't updated in several years, it's basically worthless.

Have a database field "thread title post id"

Op \ mods have a button on posts to mark them as such.

Button next to the bookmark star that takes you to the post

Yeah, I can think of instances where long running info threads couldn't be updated when a goon disappeared.

Yeah, I don’t know how you’d do that though.

Having someone ask every 5 pages who Pete is in the r/relationships thread is pretty obnoxious so if a link to the post were in the OP that'd be pretty useful.

Megathreads in general can have gems and important posts that occur 200 pages in to a 3450 page thread and it's not exactly reasonable to assume a newcomer to the thread has the time to comb through every page to get up to date on past important posts and references.

Megathreads are bad and threads should be limited to 100 pages just like in the good ol ddays here on the forums. If the thread is that good, someone can make a continuation thread at page 100

Also apparently the way the forums are coded, it actually costs slightly more to load a thread with a lot of pages

Threads that encroach upon the official megathread are usually gassed, so this doesn't often work

Except every time this happens the new threads inevitably get rapid-fire filled up the first 40 pages of people quoting and reposting the pertinent and popular content from the last thread and 3 weeks in the new OP gets banned/abandons the thread/etc. just like the prior megathread.

Winifred Madgers

Either way the solution is for someone, i.e. the OP of the current thread, a designated replacement for the OP, or a new OP of a new thread, to put some time and effort into it. Coding something so a replacement for the OP can edit it seems like effort on top of effort. If no one's willing or able to make a new thread then who'd be willing to take on the current one?

Honestly, I'd make a new roguelike thread if I knew what modern games were popular. OP of the old one's six years old and hasn't been updated in nearly five. A lot of games have come out since then and a lot of the old game threads linked in the OP were locked years ago.

The miniature painting thread in Traditional Games also has a few dead links and videos but I'm a novice at it and don't think I'm the right choice for making a new one.

It's fine that way. What we really need is to split it into three subforums: one for Mafia games, one for CYOAs and one for regular roleplay threads.
