Everything about Mario vs DK feels cheap - the graphics, the music, the UI, it reeks of the java flip phone game era to me. The later Mini-heavy games are slightly more interesting, I guess, and they did manage to change the mechanics from game to game which probably isn't obvious just from looking at them, but the sound design in particular never improved, everything sounds placeholder.

The guy making the colour hack is still around and he works pretty quickly once he's picked a direction, I think he's been putting off the final touches on the Frog patch because he's indecisive about tiny things.

It's been a long time since I played LA but depositing your seashells in groups of 5 gets you a bonus shell for every deposit, right?
