Truly insidious news today. Turns out the red menace has managed to fine tune their brain damage ray so that it does not produce any brain abnormalities in its victims. Their tech is much more sophisticated than we first imagined.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/havana-syndrome-nih-study-1.7147124

quote:

Yet sophisticated MRI scans detected no significant differences in brain volume, structure or white matter — signs of injury or degeneration — when Havana syndrome patients were compared to healthy government workers with similar jobs, including some in the same embassy.

Nor were there significant differences in cognitive and other tests, according to findings published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

I am sorry. I have no vices for you to exploit.

I was in Buenos Aires for about 5 days and the current state of the Argentine economy is just kind of crazy. On the way back to Uruguay I saw that they're about to start issuing 10.000 and 20.000 peso bills because 1000 is not large enough and that makes sense because paying for anything in cash requires you to walk around with a comically large wad of bills

This must be incorrect. Inflation was supposed to drop not increase. Are you sure you don't have things the other way around?

The Taurus didn't offer much for drivers craving the sport sedan experience. That changed with the 1989 debut of the Ford Taurus SHO (for Super High Output), a Q-ship of the finest order that offered up a high-revving Yamaha-designed V-6 engine and a tight sport suspension.

lol that's crazy.

It felt almost unethical to be on vacation there. I went over for some concerts and shows and pigged out at restaurants a couple times with my friend and we were briefly paralyzed when we got bills for like 15k only to see that the exchange is about 1k to 1usd

anyone traveling: get your money changed on the street. bring a friend

Oh, that makes sense. yeah, anyone travelling should definitely avoid airports unless they desperately need to change money, the exchange rate is always terrible compared to anywhere else

In Argentina they were calling the places to go get the unofficial (illegal) exchange rate for USDs (dólar blue as they call it, not sure why blue) cuevas as in caves. it was very funny because we walked into a little store next to a bakery being run by two middle aged women that ushered us into a shady hallway with an electric bill counter to prove they aren't loving you over. They nicely gave us just short of 200k for 200usd and we went on our way

thinking about how in weimar people would just use the notes for wallpaper and got so hosed up by the math they would just compulsively write zeroes over and over on paper to calm themselves lmao

nice, i remember having to keep track of counting hundreds of bills on the street, surrounded by people i didn't know. those auto counters are great

just looked it up and the highest denominated banknote in nigeria is now worth $.60, about one tenth of what the 1000N note was worth when i was there. insane they won't issue larger notes

All the people arrested are personally known to the Bolsonaros, are their political supporters. The person who nominated the police chief arrested here, and later fired a police chief who warned of the guy's connection to the militias, was Bolsonaro's vp candidate last year.

It's unlikely that Bolsonaro was directly connected to the decision, but that is mostly because he is a couple of steps above in the hierarchy of the militias.

Yeah, and the thinnest veneer of plausible deniability also helps, so libs have an excuse to do nothing about it.

that was the original plan, but bolso had a single bowl of goulash and that dose of dietary fiber was enough to brick him up and led to some rancid farts. the embassy staff had to expel him after a few days lest the building be condemned
