That little religious movement that popped up in Delhi decades ago, sure, that was a one time thing. They could be bought off. There could be a kind of co-existence.  While the king has been playing with his toy boats, there has been a growing discontent in the countryside. It has been spreading in the cities, in the universities, and in the great publishing houses, in the tea shops where everyone talks. The priests whisper about it and cannot stifle the furious debates in their lecture halls. A campaign of whispers has spread through the crown lands of Tibet itself.  The dispute is not over doctrine, or practice, as they usually are, but over history - events of three centuries ago. Restorationists, so they call themselves, claim to have uncovered evidence that the Sacred Hierarchy has concealed the life and death of the holy woman Pakmodru Tse, and killed her as part of a conspiracy to hide the secrets of life. A priest and writer named Indra Byanjanakar, from Chyasal, claims to have discovered written testimony by a courtier asserting that the former Empress, Pelmo II, was a secret Buddhist and conspired with her court to assassinate a holy woman in front of her entire court. This is only one cause for anger. There are many who see the remaining wealth and power of the hierarchy, its possession of lands, and its undue societal influence as the reason for Tibet's stagnation over the past century. But with rising living standards over the past century, the cities are crowded with the young, the educated, and the angry.  The Sacred Hierarchy demands the total destruction of those under the spell of delusion. They offend the local gods. They offend the basic principles of morality. They disgrace nature. They lie about the founders of the church. They would destroy all stable society. They must be destroyed. All entities - cities, princedoms, kingdoms - which have adopted the Restorationist heresy must be destroyed. Some, some, may be granted independence again provided they stay with the faith.  The Restorationists cannot tolerate the existence of the corrupted Hierarchy anymore. They know the truth. They know that the church is predicated upon concealing the truth, about how the second founder returned and was slain by a vast conspiracy. They would argue for a dissolution of the military alliance with the Sacred Hierarchy, and a war of annexation to end its independent existence. Tibet must be restored, and the great campaigns and glory of the past will be resumed. As before, please put one of the above flags into your post to signal what faction you are now representing. More so than before, this will affect Tibet's actions, as well as the compsition and attitudes of the rest of the separate Empire.

I don't know about all this conspiracy business, but the hierarchy never WAS meant to be separate from the crown in the first place. Its independence is an aberration, and this presents an excellent opportunity to correct it.

The Sacred Hierarchy has robbed us of the second coming of Tse! The ire of the gods has surely been directed at us since this heinous act. We have seen our nation fall from its heights as the strongest and most influential in the world to one that has lost its grip on its former now-squabbling subjects, at times being forced to grovel and hail these pretenders as emperor! We have no choice but to immediately break all ties with the Sacred Hierarchy, who were surely working with the heathen empress to bring about our downfall. Then we must seek restitution for these despicable crimes by bringing them to heel and purging the rot from their very core. Only then will the gods smile upon us again.

The True Tse would know what to do with these liars- as she did when she founded our Sacred Hierarchy, they would be put to sword and torch, and in her name and in the name of the gods, we must not falter! Tsenmo Purgyal Pongza 'the Just' was a zealous, upright Bodpa Empress.
