Left parties might capture institutional power through *radical economics*, bring back a new "keynesian" era and solve pressing issues like unemployment and climate change. And even if they didn't, even the center-right would have to change its ways now that it's conclusively proven that austerity doesn't work and it wouldn't let the world go beyond 2 degrees because democracy. Democracy is the ideal politics: everything can be solved by more and more direct democracy. Racism, sexism and so on are individual distortions and have been pushed to a fringe anyway, so a well informed majority will only occasionally and accidentally do wrong. Academics are the vanguard making this world better by researching how bad things are wrong and don't work and how there are good things we should do instead, and popularizing their work. Modern rebels and terrorists are all (self-)brainwashed weirdos in the same vein as incels and their appearances have only a purely distorted relation to what was happening in the world.

I thought that anarchism was a unitary political theory too before 2016. American anarchists have proudly cultivated the highest form of edgy politics, post-left anarchy.

The joke anarchism is basing your philosophical outlook on obscure egoism and idolizing criminal gangs or people living like primitivist-scavengers in areas where order has broken down as desirable examples of anarchy in action.
