I've never seen insulation in any of those drop ceilings. Not having ceiling tiles really does make the office seem more spacious. I moved from an office without ceiling tiles to an office with ceiling tiles a few years ago, and it felt stifling for a long time. Also, ceiling tiles get stained and no one replaces them.
