I would say the hit/miss ratio is similar to The Outer Limits, Twilight Zone, or even Star Trek. I've been pretty content with the quality of LDR and SR, and will be a bit sad when they are gone.

Not sure if this is the standard "broke up over order into two sets of episodes" situation but Devil May Cry was renewed.

Darth Walrus posted:I mean, the games do also show that literal demons from hell can be pretty decent people. The reason hell is hell, in all its Biblical horror and depravity, is because it's run by a monstrous tyrant who chose to be completely evil. It's not your power or your lineage, it's what you do with what you have. That's more or less the core theme of the franchise, informing both its heroes and its villains. That is the kinda thing I feel works for video game adaptations: of course the protagonist fucks up a lot and isn't good at everything right away, because neither are you the first time you play a game.

Yeah- there are lovely people in literally every single enterprise. You have to choose to see the good people's work or not.

Adi Shankar has been a lovely edgelord type palling around with any number of chuds for basically as long as he's been in the public eye, it seems like he has the good sense to mostly keep quiet at least.

I guess the most generous explanation you can come up with is that this series has been in production since 2018, back when Assmon was just known as being the filthy Nurgle apostle WOW streamer and wasn't the toxic manosphere culture war grifter he is today. Still a gross and terrible thing to commit to. Reminds me of how the showrunner for Star Trek: Picard did an online influencer press tour for the show's final season and it consisted of nothing but livestreams with gross culture war fuckfaces like Nerdrotic, The Critical Drinker and their also-ran underlings. Something about "When people show you who they are, believe them"?

I wonder if that guy even saw his own completed show. Either this is a bit or he's one of the dumbest people on the planet who immediately forgets what he just said the moment it leaves his gob. The kind of things they show and talk about in the series isn't something the likes of Asmongold would enjoy. It's too "political". I'm sure he has a video of complaining about the series being woke or something because it is critical of the american empire. Maybe Adi can see that video then fire the showrunners for being woke or something.

I could easily buy that Shankar has basically nothing in the way of principles and is willing to do or say just about anything that he thinks makes himself more popular Making the DMC anime so controversial just puts him at the center of attention by proxy for a bit

Alberto Mielgo, who directed both The Witness and Jibaro for LDR, did a trailer for the new Bungie game Marathon that is basically just a LDR short. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvbEnWLRo1s

Lazarus on Max is pretty decent, especially when they throw down the budget on some of the action sequences.

The Modern Leper posted:Lazarus on Max is pretty decent, especially when they throw down the budget on some of the action sequences. Yeah I like it so far. Only been two episodes though so it could go either way. Common Side Effects recently was also excellent. I know that's been said alot but just in case somebody hasn't watched it yet, it's good.

I’ve been vibing with the action scenes of Lazarus so far (especially the multiple parkour sequences in episode one), but I’m still lukewarm about the plot.

It's Cowboy Bebop with the name filed off. It's reminding me of Metallic Rouge so far, which doesn't bode well. We'll see how the series rounds out.

So far it's very style over substance, but the style is pretty cool.

I mean yes the first 2 episodes, really the first one especially which is an extended chase sequence, is very, very style over substance but the thing is Bebop is very like that in many episodes and eventually really hits when it decides to, so I'm hoping Lazarus also manages this because Axel as a main character is not exactly like Spike but he is similar in that he has an obvious veneer which may at some point be broken through. He is cool, I really like him, and I want to know if there is more to him so I'm going to keep watching to find that out. The other characters look potentially cool but we've gotten very little so far. and also, the style, well, it's loving great. I was totally engaged through all of episode 1 and surprised when it ended because it felt like we'd only just begun - which makes me think, there might not be substance here, but I want there to be, because they are doing everything they HAVE done, really well. It feels like it needs the full 26 episodes to let all of the potential build out though. Not the 10 or 13 or whatever it is getting.

This doesn't feel like the Bebop universe but the timeline could still fit Bebop is 2070s this looks like 2040s or so based on the Wikipedia screens, which look very different from how they look in Bebop, but that could be due to spaceship bandwidth.

It's not uninhabitable, it's just kind of a backwater compared to how it used to be while a lot of cool stuff is on Mars. Offhand, I know they go to Earth at least twice for Ed's dad and the betamax player.
