Plenty of felons who show plenty of respect and love for animals, the problem is that animal abuse is so common, hard to prosecute, and even difficult to expose, that just "normal," regularly everyday people with no criminal history can abuse the poo poo out of animals with little to no recourse from the law. And they know that, so in cases like this farm they can indulge in their imp of the perverse and just be as sadistic as they please.
