Stomping Ground Results:
  • On the pre-show, Daniel Bryan went on a rant about how Heavy Machinery were a joke , and it was up to him and Rowan to save the tag division. He screamed at Charles Robinson to stay out of the shot. Daniel Bryan owns.
  • Drew Gulak defeated Tony Nese (C) and Akira Tozawa to become the new Cruiserweight Champion on the pre-show.
  • On the opening match of the main show, Becky Lynch (C) defeated Lacey Evans by submission to retain her Raw Women's Championship. Becky is still getting good reactions from the crowd but the commentators kept selling how quickly Lacey tapped and how smart that was, which leaves me worried they're planning a THIRD match between them somehow.
  • Paul Heyman was interviewed leaving Baron Corbin's locker room, which raised questions as to whether he would be the special guest referee in the main event. Heyman pointed out that there are TWO top champions here tonight that Brock could cash in on. After Heyman left, Corbin came out and said he'd picked his referee, and that he had a plan to deal with Brock Lesnar if required.
  • Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn defeated The New Day in what was a very fun match. The finish came when BIG E speared Sami through the ropes, but Owens tripped Xavier as he was going to the ropes, hit the Stunner and got the pinfall.
  • Ricochet defeated Samoa Joe (C) to become the new United States Champion. It was a enjoyable match mostly punctuated by cool moments but no real storyline/flow. Postmatch, Ricochet went to the back where various wrestlers (including Seth Rollins) applauded and hugged him, with Otis from Heavy Machinery bellowing,"I LOVE YOU! I LOVE YOU!" - HHH also hugged Ricochet which got a big pop from the crowd.
  • Daniel Bryan and Rowan (C) defeated Heavy Machinery to retain the Smackdown Tag Team Titles. It was the best match Heavy Machinery have been in and Daniel Bryan was utterly exceptional as always. The crowd was absolutely behind Bryan, cheering for him and booing Heavy Machinery if they ever attacked him, also chanting,"BUY A PRIUS!" at one point.
  • Bayley (C) retained her Smackdown Women's Title against Alexa Bliss, in a weirdly structured match that was equal parts smooth move transitions AND awkward, clumsy stumbling that looked likely to cause injury or concussions. Bayley hit Nikki at ringside on a suicide dive but it was badly handled so it looked like Bayley had outright attacked Nikki as opposed to Alexa being the cause. As a result, Nikki rushed the ring and caused a distraction, allowing Bayley to get her legs up on a moonsault and then hit the Belly to Bayley and win. Nikki was horrified at what she'd caused and hugged Alexa tight as Bayley went up the ramp with the belt.
  • A recap of the 24/7 title being won by Drake Maverick last week only for him to lose it back to R-Truth on his wedding day and his wife demanding a divorce while he drowned his sorrows in booze.
  • Ricochet was getting photos taken with the US Title backstage and was joined by the Good Brothers to pose with him. AJ Styles showed up for a photo too and congratulated Ricochet before declaring,"I will see you tomorrow night."
  • Roman Reigns defeated Drew McIntyre in a singles match. Shane got his heat back for finally getting beat up last week, taking out the ref during a pinfall and hitting Roman with the Coast to Coast. But Roman kicked out, the crowd started chanting for him and he Superman Punched Drew, tossed Shane out of the ring and hit the Superman Punch to get the pin. I didn't like this but the crowd did.
  • Kofi Kingston (C) defeated Dolph Ziggler in a steel cage match to retain the WWE Championship. It wasn't a particularly exciting match but had a good ending, as Dolph was trying to crawl through the door and Kofi dived between the ropes and through the open door to the floor to get the win. He celebrated with New Day afterwards and said while he respected Dolph, he had guaranteed he would walk out of Stomping Grounds as the WWE Champion and he'd done just that.
  • Drew was in a rage backstage, wanting another shot at Roman Reigns. Shane did a promo declaring that tomorrow on Raw, he and Drew would face Roman in a 2-on-1 handicap match to find out for good and all whose yard Monday Night Raw really was: the guy who used to manage Smackdown or the guy who was branded to Smackdown weeks ago as a Smackdown exclusive wrestler!
  • Baron Corbin was about to announce who the special guest referee for his match was when Seth brandished a chair and declared that anybody who tried to cheat him out of his title would take an assbeating. Baron announced the special ref was... Lacey Evans.
  •
  • Corbin jumped Seth from behind as Lacey was trying to take the chair from him, and then beat on Seth with the chair, all before the bell had run to start the match.
  • As the match began, the crowd started chanting,"A-E-DUB!", then,"DANIEL BRYAN!" and then,"CM PUNK!" before finally chanting,"BORING!" which Cole tried to sell as them doing a baseball style,"CORRRR-BIN!" chant to get under his skin.
  • Doc M posted:

    I was saying Boo-aron!
  • After Seth powerbombed Corbin through the commentary table, Lacey "slow" counted to 8 (it was almost a standard cadence) before making the announcer declare that there were now no countouts. When Seth covered Corbin for a pinfall, Lacey counted 2 and then grabbed at her shoulder in paid, with Corey Graves declaring this was Becky's fault for putting her in the DisArmHer earlier.
  • Corbin assaulted Seth with the steel chair in front of Lacey, who ignored it. She then told the announcer to declare this was now a no-DQ match. Seth then hit the Falcon Arrow on Seth on the chair and Lacey refused to count the pinfall at all.
  • "This is embarassing," said Renee.
  • Lacey slapped the poo poo out of Seth and kicked him in the gut, then low-blowed him when Corbin turned Seth around. Becky Lynch ran down FINALLY and beat the poo poo out of Lacey, the crowd was thrilled. Other refs ran down to pull Becky off of Lacey, and John Cone jumped into the ring and counted the pinfall after Seth hit the Curb Stomp to retain the Universal Championship. Becky raised Seth's hand and he hugged her to end the match.
  • The crowd were waiting for Brock Lesnar to show up. Becky held the ropes open for Seth and they sat on the ring apron together as replays aired, then they walked up the ramp together to end the show.

Raw Results:
  • Seth Rollins opened the show to a good reaction, to mock Baron Corbin for trying to cheat his way to the Universal title and failing there too. Becky Lynch came out to a good pop and declared that for Seth, it was good to be "The Man's man". Corbin came out and accused Seth of hiding behind Becky and somehow being less of a man.
  • Lacey Evans jumped Becky from behind, but Becky beat her rear end and shoved Seth out of the way when he tried to pull her off. Seth smiled and got the gently caress out of the way and she beat Lacey's rear end some more.
  • A challenge was made for a mixed tag at Extreme Rules, Winner Takes All where if Corbin/Lacey lose they get no more shots at Seth or Becky, but if they win then they win BOTH the Universal Title and the Raw Women's Title.
  • The New Day (Xavier and BIG E) and The Usos defeated The Revival and Bryan/Rowan in a 8-man elimination tag match, with breaks for "resets and restarts" between commercial breaks. Bryan was hugely over in spite of being a heel and New Day were actually booed for pinning him. New Day were eliminated next, then The Usos defeated The Revival.
  • BRAUN! and Bobby Lashley will be in a tug-of-war tonight. Cool.
  • As Miz was walking backstage, Abby the Witch was spotted poking her head out looking at him for a moment.
  • R-Truth came out to be a guest of MizTV, and Miz assured him that the 24/7 Rules had been suspended for the period of this interview.
  • Truth was interviewed about winning the 24/7 Title back from Drake Maverick at Drake's wedding. He complained that being 24/7 Champion was no fun because wrestlers kept trying to trick him out of his home to fight him. Maverick came out and said his marriage was suffering due to his loss and he hadn't even been able to consummate the marriage.
  • Vince McMahon at this exact moment
  • He challenged Truth to a rematch for the title, and Miz confirmed that he'd had word from the back that outside interference was prohibited. Truth told "Hornswoggle" that he accepted the match.
  • Truth defeated Drake in 10 seconds to retain the title, and escaped a brawl of jobbers that followed. Maverick was sulking and refused to be interviewed post-match/brawl.
  • Corbin and Lacey spoke backstage about the Winner-Takes-All match, and Corbin said when he and Lacey won THEY would be the new power couple of WWE. He left and Lacey seemed utterly disinterested in being informed they were apparently a couple now.
  • Roman Reigns got his rear end beat by Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre in a 2-on-1 Handicap match, and was saved by the return of Undertaker who chased Shane and Drew out. The crowd went banana for Undertaker, absolutely nut.
  • BRAUN! beat Lashley in a tug-of-war, and then Lashley beat up BRAUN! afterwards. Cool.
  • AJ was being interviewed backstage about challenging Ricochet last night when he spotted The Good Brothers dancing in No Way Jose's conga line. He asked what the hell had happened to them and they asked HIM the same question, then promised to prove him wrong when he said they'd lose their edge.
  • The Good Brothers were defeated by The Viking Raiders in a few minutes, dominating early before getting pinned. AJ Styles watched from backstage and was not impressed.
  • Nikki Cross apologized to Alexa Bliss for costing her the match against Bayley, and Alexa said Bayley was notorious for manipulating people. She assured Nikki they'd work out a plan to get Alexa another title shot. After a break, Nattie and Naomi tried to warn Nikki about Alexa, but she stood up for her (after Alexa showed up wanting to know why she was talking about her behind her back) and Naomi said she'd have to learn the hard way.
  • Mojo Rawley and Heath Slater never happened, because R-Truth came running down and Heath pinned him to win the 24/7 Title. The crowd cheered and chanted,"HE'S GOT KIDS!" but Truth pinned him back to get back the title. Cedric Alexander then pinned Truth to win the title, only to be pinned by ECIII who won the title who got the belt pulled off of him by Carmella, distracting him which allowed Truth to pin him and win back the... gently caress it, you get the point.
  • Ricochet was interviewed about winning the US Title and said he meant to prove he was worthy of the belt.
  • Kofi was being interviewed when Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens showed up to talk poo poo to him and claim he was nothing without The New Day. Kofi mocked them, reminded them he had beaten Owens by himself, had beaten Ziggler by himself, and would beat Sami tonight by himself.
  • Kofi defeated Sami Zayn by himself.
  • Kofi defeated Kevin owens by himself by countout.
  • Kofi beat up Sami and Kevin postmatch by himself.
  • Samoa Joe ran out and murdered the gently caress out of Kofi by himself.
  • Roman/Taker vs Shane/Drew will happen at Extreme Rules.
  • Alexa Bliss defeated Naomi in just over a minute after Naomi was distracted by accidentally hitting Nikki Cross with a baseball slide, then eating a DDT from Alexa. Postmatch, Nikki reluctantly joined in Alexa giving Naomi a beatdown until Nattie ran down to even the odds.
  • Alexa and Nikki defeated Nattie and Naomi in less than 5 minutes in a tag match.
  • AJ Styles vs. Ricochet was the main event, but was restarted (after a commercial break) when AJ kicked out The Good Brothers who had tried to interfere on his behalf.
  • AJ defeated Ricochet in a non-title match to end the show. It was a good match and the crowd was really into it. Postmatch, AJ hugged Ricochet and gave him the US Title to hold, though the implication is that AJ would be the new US Champion had the title been on the line.
  • The new edict that no wrestling can happen during commercial breaks is a massive disruption to the flow of the show.

Smackdown Results:
  • Shane McMahon was backstage, claiming that unlike Roman Reigns and The Undertaker he can't come and go as he pleases because he has a job to do. He warned the roster he was in a bad mood and they better watch themselves.
  • THe New Day came out to talk about Kofi getting attacked last night on Raw by Samoa Joe, and their scheduled title match at Extreme Rules. Ziggler came out complaining he had done the heavy lifting and now Joe was getting all the benefit, and Kofi has taken the coward's way out by winning their title match by leaping out of the cage through the door. He announced he'd convinced WWE to give him a 2-out-of-3 Falls match tonight, and if he won then he would be added to the Extreme Rules match and make it a Threeway.
  • Elias was standing in front of Shane McMahon's office, strumming his guitar, and wouldn't get out of Miz's way. Miz told him to tell Shane he had unfinished business with him, and wanted another match before Roman and Undertaker murdered him. Literally 2 seconds after Miz walked away, Shane came out and Elias passed on the message, and Shane agreed to the match provided Miz could beat Elias in a 2-out-of-3 Falls match.
  • The New Day (Xavier and BIG E) defeated Daniel Bryan and Rowan in a non-title tag match, pinning Bryan. Kevin and Sami attacked them afterwards and Rowan joined in on the kicking until Heavy Machinery ran down and helped clean house.
  • The New Day and Heavy Machinery defeated Bryan/Rowan and Kevin/Sami in an 8-man tag, with Heavy Machinery scoring the pin and posing with New Day postmatch. Otis humped the air while holding BIG E's hand.
  • A video from WWE.com aired of Nikki Cross telling Alexa Bliss that she'd been given a match against Bayley, and if she won then at her request the title-shot would go to Alexa. Alexa was upset she couldn't be there (to cheat on Nikki's behalf for her own benefit) as she would be on the Japan tour, but Nikki said just knowing she believed in her would be enough.
  • A video package aired for Mustafa Ali.
  • Thanks to interference from Shane, Elias won the first fall in his 2-out-of-3 Falls match against Miz in a couple of minutes, they then went directly to commercial break.
  • Miz and Elias fought back and forth for awhile until Shane broke up a pin attempt by Miz and put a beating on him, causing the referee to call the second falls for Miz by disqualification. Shane and Elias put the boots to Miz and tossed him over the announce desk, then took him into the ring where Shane speared Miz like Roman before the third fall could start.
  • Elias immediately pinned Shane to win the third fall. Shane hit Miz with the Coast-to-Coast and shouted in his face to never cross him again.
  • Finn Balor was interviewed backstage about his recent feud with Andrade over Finn's Intercontinental Title, and said he appreciated how hard Andrade made him work to retain the belt. But now he wanted to know who was next, and Shinsuke Nakamura showed up with a big smile.
  • Nikki Cross defeated Bayley in a long match that actually went through a commercial break, beating Bayley clean to earn Alexa Bliss (not Nikki Cross) another title shot at Extreme Rules.
  • Carmella was looking for R-Truth backstage and encountered Mandy and Sonya. After a brief argument they left, and Truth showed up only for Drake Maverick to arrive too... but without a referee. Depressed, Maverick said he had nothing because Truth had ruined his life.
  • Sonya Deville quickly defeated Ember Moon in a singles match thanks to frequent distractions by Mandy, allowing Sonya to smack Ember straight into the ringpost and then pin her.
  • Aleister Black was ranting about nobody answering his open challenge when he heard a literal knock at the door and did a Kubrick-face evil grin.
  • Kofi won the first fall in his 2-out-of-3 Falls match with Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler attacked Kofi from behind immediately, and they went to a commercial break.
  • After the commercial break, Ziggler immediately scored the second pinfall, rendering the entire match to this point moot.
  • Kofi and Ziggler went back and forth for a long third fall that got pretty exciting towards the end as they countered and reversed their finishers until Kofi finally hit the Trouble in Paradise to score the third and final pinfall. Ziggler had no excuses anymore, he lost clean in the middle and will not be at Extreme Rules fighting for the title.

Yeah. And it looks like her feud with Becky is going to continue. So we will probably get a third lovely match between them. If there's one thing I've noticed about Becky is that she's a great wrestler, but pretty much incapable of carrying god awful wrestlers to watchable matches. I mean Lacey should probably still be on the largo loop right now.

I seriously hope that Lacey is done in the title picture but that's just naive of me. She's gotten 3 or 4 chances so to show the world that she isn't god awful. And failed spectacularly every time. I seriously hope they don't drag this feud out to Summerslam, but its looking that way. Honestly they need to either move Alexa into title contention instead as a filler feud, or call up Shayna soon for an actual major feud that people might actually care about.

I mean I saw the whole Lacey push coming from a mile away, but not to this level. She ticks every one of Vince's boxes. She's gonna get all of the chances in the world to succeed, while other women get maybe one chance, and then punted down the card into oblivion.

Dave did report though that WWE was going to try and make Lacey a pillar of the women's division after WM when Ronda left. Alongside Charlotte and Becky. Although it isn't working out at all.
