Soooo, you guys prob have a bit more experience in this regard, assuming that you even *can* reduce police funding so it can be diverted to more effective social programs... How do stop fired/retired/aspirational cops using their weapons experience and stolen caches of equipment from forming domestic terror groups? My mind goes to Paul Bremer's debaathication/disbanding of the Iraqi army.

By aspirational yes I mean Oathkeepers/3%ers/George Zimmerman/assorted militia types, people too fat and stupid and undisciplined and hostile towards coworkers to become actual cops.

yes but the community doesnt have a shared bond of criminality: everyone is blooded in the same way, one person goes down for killing or raping someone, everyone else goes down, so the line holds not until you get to the mods ofc

Yes but why would you not take the opportunity to double dip? Especially considering insurance companies are terrified of ever denying payouts to conservatives, I point to a spate of negligent/deliberate fires of farm equipment that were blamed on A.N.T.I.F.A. Nebraska, where they again got both an insurance and GFM payout.

lol gently caress thin blue line went up pre-emptively the rest of the department was so worried that one of their own wasn't a psychotic freak like the rest of them, didn't constant virtue signal out their willingness to murder outsiders on a hair trigger, that they had no choice but to remove him just in case he wasn't politically unreliable and then they tried to literally cancel him by going to his new job and starting a screaming match

SMEGMA_MAIL posted:Yeah millions of dollars and decades of legal fights later sounds like a way for cops to be allowed to instantly escalate any situation into a brutal beating or murder

the difference between cops and troops is that a slightly lower percentage of the latter enlist because they seek to bully and rape and murder and through the course of your on-the-job training, you arent drummed out by your peers and superiors for not being a rapist bully

The Thin Blue Line is so thick that the Capitol police, even with irrefutable proof that many of their fellows are turncoats and are willing to abet a violent mob to beat them with fire extinguishers and their own batons, still circled the wagons to protect their own. Because it turns out those turncoats were only slightly more pilled than the rest of them. Well it's all fine because they collectively got shiney medals and massive budget increases.

I just don’t think the Capitol police were united in their goals, some wanted to do their ostensible job of suppressing the public, some wanted to help the maga, others were sympathetic to the maga but still wanted to do the former and got a fire extinguisher to the head as a result.
