Human supremacy forever.

Oh, yeah, now that you mention it, that sounds right. I think his plan to genocide the orcs was based on the idea that if there were no orcs left, the magic boost would "skip" their turn and cycle back to humans.

yeah, the story's obviously therapeutic in that he's dealing with feelings of anger and resentment after a nasty break-up. which makes talking about this arc just plain uncomfortable, especially with the recurring themes of chastity and retributive justice in the story, since it becomes difficult not to start painting a picture in your mind. like you're learning more about a stranger than you want to

At this rate it'll turn out that as pack leader it would have been Milov's duty to brutally eviscerate Jayden for her betrayal.

It’s actually worse than that, IIRC he winds up leading a pogrom against the church to save face for his family.

Didn't Mookie make a recent Tweet that he missed being glomped in cons? It'd explain why Snout sexually harassed hugged these orcs out of nowhere.

Mookie is poo poo at facial expressions. He probably wanted the orcs to look surprised, but instead they look extremely uncomfortable.

I would argue that this is still a story no matter how lacking it is, but in the same sense that your coworker telling you at length about their trip to the DMV is a 'story' - ultimately it may fizzle out or go in circles due to their innate lack of storytelling ability, but that's still what it's called.

Snout's POV really does carry the energy of a rambling anecdote told by someone with zero charisma. Like, he can't even stay focused on his own passion project and insists on suddenly diverging into a discussion of how much he likes to hug unconsenting strangers.

it's legit impossible to tell if it's a passion project, since he's doing it despite it being a failed patreon goal or whatever, or an obligation since there's zero energy in anything

I meant to say that this Deegan poo poo is apparently Snout's passion project. Because yeah, you're right, the comic itself doesn't feel all that passionate. And Mookie IS making decent money off of it so passion could easily not be the primary motivator.

Rotten Red Rod
Mar 5, 2002

I wouldn't really call $1,200/mo decent money. Not to say he isn't dependent on it - I have no idea - but his Patreon hit a ceiling and stalled in growth out earlier this year. The fact he only uploads backer updates once a month can't help.

My opinion is that his drive in life is to be called an artist and a good writer. His passion is not writing or making comics.

This has been true for every comic in his career.

Going off the occasional tweet posted in here, it seems like the Patreon is either traced porn or Where Are They Now segments starring the OG Deegan cast. He could stop doing the Legacy today and it wouldn't affect his Patreon in the slightest, he just...doesn't. Even though he's putting in so little effort that it feels like a comic he'd really rather not be making.

Rotten Red Rod
Mar 5, 2002

Yeah, specifically, he posts 3 things based on his tiers: random non-Deegan art, Deegan epilogue comics, and porn. And it looks like it's EXACTLY that - on the same day every month he posts 2 art pieces, 1 Deegan comic, and 1 porn piece. It seems very workmanlike, like he's doing just the bare minimum for the monthly content the tiers have promised.

I think he DOES still have a passion for this comic, but not for the reasons he originally had when it started, which is why the focus of the comic keeps drastically changing every few months. Currently he clearly doesn't care about the drawn art aspect, going by all the low effort traces. I don't think he has passion for doing any other drawn art either and is only doing it to maintain the Patreon - he may have had that passion when he started doing the porn pieces on Twitter, but I think it's faded.

I guess this depends on context - I don't remember if he has another job or if this is his primary money maker? If it's purely a side project, given the level of effort put into each page, $1200 per month doesn't seem that bad. If it were based on this comic alone that'd about $92 per page which is certainly more than I'd be willing to commission them for, given the quality/content. I'm not sure how much the additional porn doodles/Deegan extras done once per month add to the time taken but it doesn't seem like it'd be that much.

Like based on my own finances $1200 is nothing to sniff at. Trying to live on that would be terrible but as supplementary income, it's not exactly trivial. If I could make an extra $1200 per month by turning out art at the level Mookie does I'd definitely consider it.

Of course, this also depends on the cost of living wherever he is and all that, and how much he gets paid at his main job. It's certainly more than a lot of people get paid for their creative labors online.
