YF-23 posted:Ah well that's that then. The book's not important, its contents are not important. The only important information is that dreaming of the cube means you're there. Much like the pages were two font 50 sentences that contain such important plot information that they are impossible to remember, the book is just its cover. I imagine Mookie really struggling to think of what could possibly be inside the book that would be of value to the plot, and just like the papers he finally just gives up and pivots to something else at the last second. It’s a real losing formula for delivering on your setups.

The book is going to be about 10 sentences long, with 3-4 words per page.

I love how the idiot has just assumed they are arguing for petty reasons and not because like... I don't know, one of them murdered the other one's family or one of them is a war criminal. I am sure he will be right and they will have to reluctantly team up or whatever, but boy would he feel stupid if he realized he was telling a nice person and a war criminal to just get along.

Which is apparently a children's book because one page is a single picture and a single word. Every single time I see that phrase I want to replace "200 years since" with "one week since you looked at me"

Went back in the thread a little and that's one of her "ink readings", but it's probably just him saying "cut it out", but it being one of her ink thingies confuses the issue

Just the most bottom of the barrel, 5 minutes to deadline interpretation of magic I’ve ever seen. With even one round of revisions he would’ve come up with something like Rorschach tests but it’s baby’s first shapes over here.

Ink readings are Mookie doing that techbro thing of inventing something that already exists but in an unnecessary, roundabout way. It's ink drips that aren't drips, just pictures that have meanings! And they are on pieces of paper! A reader has to interpret them! Just like... tarot cards. Pictures on cards. That have meanings. That are interpreted by a reader.

Sure is cool that those ink dripping pages are just lying there for Snout to pick up and show.

Mookie already knows their history, so therefore all the characters involved already know their history, and the reader will just have to catch up since they don't have that same psychic link.

Antagonist Orc Wizard's Crimes - Reads - Recovered his own stolen property without thanking the person who risked his safety to recover it (or maybe he did, Snout's deaf and kept looking away) - Bought a book with his own money - Wears a hooded cloak over a sweater (Fantasy hipster? Just cold?) - Impatient Ink Witch's Crimes - Theft - Reckless driving - Destruction of property - Sexual Harassment - Fortune Telling Scams Snout's Crimes - Rude - Tail is attached at random places, may possibly be a Wild Edge lamprey - Everyone else ceases to exist whenever he's not paying attention to them (mass murder) - Mookie's self-insert VVV Right you are. I added 'Impatient' to his list of crimes. PoptartsNinja fucked around with this message at 19:08 on Apr 18, 2020 |

To be fair, the orc cast a sleeping spell on Snout once. Literally the least painful way to incapacitate someone.

Snout rescued the Ink Witch, and then her ship came to rescue her and incidentally blew up his house. Then, the Ink Witch pretended to be an enchanted piece of paper and asked Snout to help gather the pages of a mysterious book about Dominic Deegan. Snout did so, only to have it stolen by the Mean Orc. Snout and the Ink Witch finally met up and traveled to Mongreltown, where they sought out more books about Dominic Deegan. They were directed to a pornography store, which turned out to have the book they were looking for. They earn the money doing some kinda fortunetelling act, and go back the next day to buy the book, only to see that the Mean Orc has beat them to it! The Ink Witch and the Mean Orc start arguing, but Snout can't tell what they're arguing about because he's deaf. He realizes that there is a connection between the book the Mean Orc has and the mysterious lucid dreams he's been having: a symbol resembling a poorly-drawn cube. He tells the Ink Witch and Mean Orc to stop fighting so they can all work together to figure it out.

I was just joking about the three-way but I can also image Mookie deciding to script that out.
