Don't worry guys, I'm sure Mookie will handle this in the future with grace and tact.

I can't wait to see how Snout passes directly through this "Blood Horror Canyon" without facing any danger or harm.

Dominic found that the "end of prophecy" is because all prophecy is generated by an ultra-powerful seer who lives in the heart of magic and sends out visions, but that seer is dying, so dominic valiantly took his place, so we can get an old wise sage dominic later.

With a better writer, "I tried to write a list of reasons to stay but they all pushed me to leave" could be a clever bit of writing it a subtle bit if writing showing something about the internal insecurities of the character, but this is Mookie.

The hearing potion WAS the earwax remover. Because when your earwax builds up it impairs your hearing, see? Snout just didn't read it beforehand.

One thing brought up a few times in this thread is that often as soon as Dominic learns something, everyone knows it. I think this actually comes directly from Mookie getting most of his narrative experience from (mediocre) DnD.

Often in DnD, it's kind of shorthanded or assumed that when a party member learns something, they share it with the group. It saves a bit of time and tedium from reciting whatever just happened, and it's fine in many circumstances.

But one thing good groups do but mediocre ones don't is selectively withhold information as a character would. I expect Mookie primarily plays these games for the combat and kindergarten level morality duels, so never put that much nuance into it.

He ALSO is probably one of those people who gets annoyed at media where characters have conflict stemming from not talking to each other and sharing information that would clear things up. He might even think that by having everyone know everything, he's subverting that conflict, but I doubt he put that much conscious thought into it.

This made me curious so I looked into the list of people he follows on Twitter. There are both fewer porn models on there and more WWE accounts than I expected, but otherwise it's the typical mix of some nerd poo poo (mark hammil, the hard times), liberal celebrities like AOC, a few news accounts, a smattering of comic artists/authors, a couple things for his kid, and friends/family. Fair enough, Mookie, you're not THAT open about it all.

A tiny part of me is morbidly curious what horrible mutant monstrosity he thinks an erection should look like, but I'm absolutely not curious enough to check or pay for it.

In a different situation with a different author I would say that creating a fake slur for a fake race that sounds and feels uncomfortable is a good bit of writing for emotional resonance. For Mookie I will absolutely not give praise for it and instead assume he just wanted to see how close to the n-word he could get without getting called out for it.

I expect it to actually just be a meaningless statue and the black orb-thing with the orbiting globs to be a container holding the ink witch for some reason and that any actual conversation either happens with her or with Arudak explaining why she's there.

I though that was the dryad who keeps grossly manhandling the flaccid satyr, was the ink witch also explicitly based on her? Or am I conflating "based on" and "used as a model" here.

My favorite bad sci-fi TV show from that era was Lexx, where everything got immensely toned down in the second season where they had no budget, so the crew went to the darkest and most evil part of the dark evil universe, which is just Earth, so all the adventures got to happen on Earth instead of anywhere that cost money for puppets/CGI/scenery.

Anyway yeah this comic blows. I'm sure Mookie is racking up some deep meaning to the flower too, even though, as pointed out, it was just a flower the dying guy plucked where he lay.

How much do you want to bet that the 'plot' of this chapter is that Snout lost his library card somewhere?

The library brochure clearly says all union library cards are accepted. Obviously, this means that it's a highly exclusive library that you can only access if you have a library card, and that the library will not issue new cards. This becomes a problem when we discover that Bad Orc Man stole Snout's library card to gain access to this coveted and exclusive... library.

I like how on the new page the whole weird psychedelic snout avatar is literally just copy-pasted and shrunk down from the first time he drew it, making it vaguely blurry.

Who wants to guess that mookie has some "meaning" behind bits of it that he'll crow about being hidden clues all along, like the orbs and angles being Acibek-Law and the swirly bits being representative of Chaos all indicating that Snout is the new avatar of Balance or whatever.

the art doesn't communicate the scale effectively, so that doesn't resolve either.

The scale is what gets me. That and the poor map design. The roads are thin but given the scale of the buildings are highways, but there's no direct path between the two largest clusters, just a roundabout stretch. The docks are drawn to a scale that they're mostly 2-3x wider than the buildings, which is MASSIVE. He drew specks meant to be boats but again, given the scale of the buildings, those are loving cruise ships. And, the perspective makes the ship seem way higher in the air than it is in the other two panels, or indeed any other time we've seen it.
