it was kind of funny in the first few seasons. but when they added all of the hot girlfriends to appeal to a general audience it just fell apart. these kinds of nerds are supposed to have lady problems, thats the funny joke. when they all have models for girlfriends its just not funny

Its pretty bad, but legitimately better than 90% of sitcoms. My girlfriend was into it, so I've seen a fair amount of it, and like 1 joke per episode will sort of land. Here's the one genuine compliment I'll give it - It was totally willing to drastically change a character if the new idea just worked better. I didn't watch enough to know if this was done gradually or not, but I suspect it wasn't - Bernadette was introduced as a ditzy, meek waitress, and then in later seasons all of the sudden is very intelligent and domineering drug rep, and it works way better, and I really don't care if it was organic or not, because it's just a dumb sitcom. Amy and Raj had similar transformations for the better. All other characters were bad, especially Wolowitz.

It's a milquetoast sitcom full of extremely safe humor written for idiots in the midwest. The laugh track is necessary so people know when a joke has happened, as none of them are funny. I'd probably like it if it went in harder on jokes at the expense of capital-G Gamers tbh

I never liked Friends, but in retrospect it's a better show with better characters and actually a few jokes that would be funny even without laugh tracks. There are a few scenes out there of Big Bang Theory with removed laugh tracks that are kind of funny just because of their incredible awkwardness as you realize there is no joke followed by a few seconds of everyone staring at each other while the laugh track would play. That said, it's good enough to run in the background while I do something in the kitchen like cooking, eating or crying, but pretty much everything is.

It's like how there was an American version of the IT Crowd, but Moss was exactly the same, played by the same person, and still British. The whole thing is just awkward and doesn't really work. I can't blame people for watching and even laughing if they just want to chill out at the end of the day.

i tried to give it a chance but i stopped when leonard started dating penny, because i thought that was stupid forced bullshit. that said, it's not like i was in love with the show before that anyway. sheldon is one of the most annoying charmless characters in sitcom history.
