I love that the point difference between 2nd and 1st place was the same as between 20th and 7th place. Javy rules.

I will readily admit that I voted for Javy on my favorites list. Also reminder: Some coward(s) had Javy on their hated list last year.

Seriously. He's the dreamiest AND he's good at baseball. Except the breaking ball low and away, which he can't help himself from swinging at EVERY TIME.

He threw at Derek Dietrich for admiring a homer. That's some bullshit.

Ah that's fair. Worth a #10 vote (I think mine was Dietrich himself)

MLB's lowest ERA without receiving a single Most Loved vote: 2.32, belonging to Hyun-jin Ryu Working theories: I don't really keep up with west coast baseball, so I have to say I have no idea. He seems to be a bit of a late bloomer, judging by the fact that he received no MLB distinctions until this year, when he made it into the All-Star Game. Maybe he's living in the shadow of Kershaw? Any NL Westies want to elaborate? MLB's highest batting average without receiving a single Most Loved vote:.329, belonging to Ketel Marte Working theories: The likably odd Zack Greinke is the only Diamondback to receive any votes this year. While Ketel Marte is clearly good at the game, he's pretty low-key, in a way that doesn't come back around to being high-key like Greinke.

I was trying to dig up my list from this year and I can't find the email. Maybe I didn't fill one out I could have swore I did. Either way, the #1s are perfect.

I made comments for my top 10 lists Favorites 1. Anthony Rizzo (Chicago Cubs) - the heart and soul of the Cubs, and all around great guy. Received the Roberto Clemente award a couple years ago for the Rizzo Foundation, which benefits children and teens with cancer, and visits the local children's hospital on off days or before home games. 2. Javier Baez (Chicago Cubs) - exciting to watch and seems like a down to earth guy when not launching balls to the moon. very, VERY gifable 3. Sean Doolitle (Washington Nationals) - The opposite of a CHUD and therefore a good guy. 4. Jason Heyward (Chicago Cubs) - If Rizzo is the heart and soul of the team, then JHey is the mind and spirit. Gave the single most important rain delay speech in baseball history, and easily fits the mentor role on the team. Also, he's hitting his stride this year, so that helps. 5. Dexter Fowler (St Louis Cardinals) - All around great guy, stylish, not a CHUD, only ranked 5th because he's on the drat Cardinals :P 6. Adam Wrainwright (St Louis Cardinals) - opposite of a CHUD, drops hammers about the truth of players not getting paid poo poo, unfortunately on the Cardinals 7. Lucas Giolito (Chicago White Sox) - Pancake's lobbying post worked. 8. Vlad Jr. (Toronto Blue Jays) - Holy beans that HR Derby. And it's his rookie year. WOW. 9. Tommy LaStella (Anaheim Angels) - Wow what a year he's had! Shame he's not on the Cubs anymore, but I'm glad he's reaching his potential. 10. Freddy Freeman (Atlanta Braves) - I just think he's pretty. The Hated </3 1. Addison Russell (Chicago Cubs) - ABUSER and supposedly pays his child support in quarters just to be a loving a-hole 2. Adrois Chapman (NY Yankees) - ABUSER 3. Ryan Braun (Milwalkee Brewers) - pissed hot for PEDS and got someone fired by playing the victim and crying. 4. Trevor Bauer (Cleveland Indians) - a goddamn CHUD and a manchild 5. Roborto Osuna (Houston Astros) - ABUSER 6. Odubel Herrera (Phillidelpha Phillies) - ABUSER 7. Daniel Murphy (Colorado Rockies) - your unfriendly neighborhood homophobe 8. Trea Turner (Washington Nationals) - racist tweets and doesn't seem to be sorry about them 9. Josh Hader (Milwaukee Brewers) - CHUD 10. Noe Ramirez (Anaheim Angels) - don't intentionally pitch at a player's head. I don't care if said player made a dirty play beforehand.

I thought for sure I'd be the only Blackmon vote, and I didn't even really care by that point, as I'd run out of lovely people's names I could remember and just wanted the dude to see a barber.

bradzilla posted:Cool thread op, thanks for all the work you put into it! I want to say "no prob" because "you're welcome" sounds kind of condescending, but -- while I did have a lot of fun doing this -- the trillion-way ties in the very beginning, especially the ones including players that I'd never seen or heard of before, made me want to die, lol. I can't tell if more voters would help get rid of the super-ties or just increase the margin by which Javy Báez wins #1. Probably both.

Thanks so much Tuba! I always look forward to this. Hopefully in this offseason we'll dump Russell to the curb and it will feel appropriate to actually have favorites again! It really, really impacts me a ton to have lovely people on the team I love (and work for) and I don't want to love the guys I love less because of it. My lists: Favorites: 1. Javy Baez (CHC) 2. Willson Contreras (CHC) 3. Tim Anderson (CHW) 4. Dee Gordon (SEA) 5. Jason Heyward (CHC) 6. Tommy La Stella (LAA) 7. Anthony Rizzo (CHC) 8. Sean Doolittle (WSN) 9. Dexter Fowler (STL) 10. Albert Pujols (LAA) Not Favorites: 1. Addison Russell (CHC) 2. Aroldis Chapman (NYY) 3. Ryan Braun (MIL) 4. Tyler Bauer (CLE) 5. Daniel Murphy (COL) 6. Jeurys Familia (NYM) 7. Roberto Osuna (HOU) 8. Josh Hader (MIL) 9. Madison Bumgarner (SFG) 10. Derek Dietrich (CIN)

Most Favorite 1. Vlad Guerrero Jr. 2. Sean Doolittle 3. Marcus Stroman 4. Tim Anderson 5. Cavan Biggio 6. Ronald Acuna Jr 7. Mike Trout 8. Albert Pujols 9. Lucas Giolito 10. Charlie Morton Least Favorite 1. Rougned Odor 2. Roberto Osuna 3. Aroldis Chapman 4. Addison Russell 5. Trevor Bauer 6. Ryan Braun 7. Daniel Murphy 8. Manny Machado 9. Sean Newcomb 10. Josh Hader Had Bo been called up by the time I submitted my list he would have been on mine, but it is what it is. My votes for Vlad and Cavan, while totally reasonable on their own, were also a way of me voting for the future of the Blue Jays as my favorite because it gives me hope. Thanks Tuba for doing this as others have said.

Any NL Westies want to elaborate? He's been good throughout his Dodger tenure (sub 3.00 era all told) but injuries have really stunted both his career and visibility. This is his first season with 150+ innings since 2014. Super pumped for the guy that he's gonna get paid in the offseason, although I don't expect it to be by the Dodgers and that will be sad. I agree though that it's weird he hasn't received any votes so I'll help fix that: Favorite: 1. Hyun-Jin Ryu 2. Justin Turner 3. Max Muncy 4. Cody Bellinger 5. Clayton Kershaw 6. Walker Buehler 7. Joc Pederson 8. Zack Greinke 9. Yasiel Puig 10. Joey Votto Least Favorite: 1. Madison Bumgarner 2. Yuli Gurriel 3. Trevor Bauer 4. Daniel Murphy 5. Roberto Osuna 6. Brian McCann 7. Josh Hader 8. George Springer 9. Christian Yelich 10. Ryan Braun

That’s the only downside to having the vote be at the all star break. Players get season ending injuries or become huge jerks.
