#14 Most Loved - 18 points Albert Pujols Team: Los Angeles Angels Debut: April 2, 2001 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mc_-vU5SCWk What's to love? Pancakes posted:Okay everyone, let's kick it up a notch. I know, I know, in this house we hate the Cardinals. Consider, however, Albert Pujols Tommy Pham Team: Tampa Bay Rays Debut: September 9, 2014 What's to love? He has keratoconus, a degenerative eye disorder, and he still hits better than I ever will and better than plenty of players do (.272 -- not too shabby). I can't tell if the people who run the MLB video/GIF repository are so captivated by his swing & gorgeous smile that they simply forgot to add GIFs of him making awesome defensive plays or what, but trust me when I say he's a great defenseman as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyqqagJgiek Most importantly, he looks good and he knows it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIhWISSiPjs But MOST importantly, he hates Ozzie Albies's contract extension as much as the rest of us do. Yadier Molina Team: St. Louis Cardinals Debut: June 3, 2004 What's to love? Won the Roberto Clemente award in 2018 for helping out victims of Hurricane Maria in his native Puerto Rico, raising money and delivering supplies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEndk4dHbJA He reverse-jinxed Dexter Fowler once. https://twitter.com/sn_mlb/status/1164732952321744896 Of course, he isn't perfect. He's only been an All-Star nine of the past ten years, after all, and he has only won silver in the past two World Baseball Classics! Amateur. quote:14. I heartily approve of the entirety of the #14 slot. Fun facts for all three of these baseball men: Since I made that lobbying post Albert has passed both Babe Ruth and ARod for career total bases, has pulled within 6 hits of Cal Ripken and gotten another 31 RBI's. He's also tied Willie Mays for career extra base hits. He is, however, back below 100 career bWAR. Tommy Pham hates ballhawks, has a twin sister who was a track star, dotes on his nephew to an insane degree and was once stabbed by his uncle. He also won his arbitration hearing against Tampa in his first (!) year of eligibility. He had his breakout season after Yadi made a bet to motivate him: Whether he could have a 20/20 season while hitting .300. If Yadi won Tommy would owe $1,000. If Pham won Yadi had to buy him a watch worth up to $60,000. Yadier Molina is my perfect baseball angel and if anyone speaks ill of him I will fight them in real life. And I will win. My two favorite Yadi-related highlights from the most recent WBC: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6jD7TTLFZ8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SuiEAdveNE0 Pancakes fucked around with this message at 02:53 on Aug 31, 2019 |

I'm back, y'all. If you're wondering about all these gaps, 1) Labor Day weekend, and 2) I work for an edtech company and it's back-to-school season, so I'm half-dead. #13 Most Loved - 19 points Freddie Freeman Team:Atlanta Braves Debut: September 1, 2010 What's to love? He is so loving gooooooood I hate him. His friendly rivalry with Jacob deGrom is as amusing as it is frustrating. deGrom is not the only ace that he shakes up either. https://twitter.com/FOXSportsBraves/status/1148329482819969026 He is an absolute menace at the plate. https://twitter.com/Braves/status/1137136171400814594 Brian Snitker posted:If he's not the MVP of this league, I don't know who is...We don't take him for granted. We know we have something pretty special in the person and the ballplayer. Freeman has hit 38 home runs this season, a career high, which is less than Pete Alonso. Anyway, he's impossible to hate -- he's a good player and apparently a good dude, visiting children's hospitals and whatnot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHqOW1fAl0g Tommy La Stella Team:Los Angeles Angels Debut: May 28, 2014 What's to love? Tommy La Stella leveled up this year after leaving the Cubs, and he was already good enough to have earned the nickname "3am" from Joe Maddon for his hitting reliability. Also defensive reliability. It's kind of hosed up that when he finally got onto a team that would give him a chance to flourish, he broke his leg by hitting a ball into it. Hopefully he'll be back soon. Yasiel Puig Team:Cincinnati Reds Debut: June 3, 2013 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pa36kCLWeu0 What's to love? Puig your friend. Puig everyone's friend! Except maybe Chris Archer. Puig kids' friend. https://twitter.com/YasielPuig/status/1163648344842833921 Puig was perhaps undisciplined as a Dodger... https://twitter.com/TMZ_Sports/status/1118148586871631872 ...but he seems like a good guy nonetheless. quote:13. Every day, we get closer and closer to the top 10 hated list. I can't wait. In the meantime, let us celebrate Kyle Appreciation Day. #12 Most Loved - 20 points Kyle Hendricks Team: Chicago Cubs Debut: July 10, 2014 What's to love? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4pVkuxYrmw He is mostly deadpan and emotionless, but somehow still likable. It could be because he is very good at pitching in addition to having no discernible personality. https://twitter.com/PitchingNinja/status/1168617709954830336 He threw an 81-pitch CGSO this year, which was highly impressive too. https://twitter.com/Michael_Cerami/status/1124416431586721793 Kyle Schwarber Team: Chicago Cubs Debut: June 16, 2015 What's to love? The only person who voted for him AND included a justification called him a fat overrated moron, so, uh...I will say that he owns at the plate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9sEh1AUdpo He is perhaps not the best defenseman but he's not terrible, which makes me wonder why the only GIFs I could find were of him clumsily owning himself. quote:12. I like to have some kind of fancy blurb before I get into the meat of a post, but I don't really have anything today, so... #11 Most Loved - 22 points Max Scherzer Team: Washington Nationals Debut: April 29, 2008 What's to love? He is an intense, fearsome, and talented Mets killer -- kind of like Freddie Freeman with rabies. He bunted a fall into his own face, breaking his nose & blackening his eye. Did he go on the IL? Did he miss any time? Of course not. He clowned the gently caress out of the Phillies the next day, as scheduled. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OW7X1p1us0 Also, he & his wife love animals and support the Humane Rescue Alliance. https://twitter.com/NatsAcademy/status/1145770850207064064 quote:11. First things first -- I completely forgot that #10 was the point at which I was going to start including the most hateds, so here we are with an interesting bottom of the list (at least in my opinion). #10 Most Hated - 26 points Bryce Harper Team: Philadelphia Phillies Debut: April 28, 2012 What's to hate? Signed a Trout-esque contract with the Phillies despite the lack of Trout-esque skills. It probably doesn't help that 1) he has a douchebag haircut, 2) he named his kid Krew, and 3) he is still good enough to be a thorn in the side of the NL East in particular. The amusing thing is that Jonathan Papelbon made it very, very high on a previous most hated list for physically attacking him. While I'm sure you folks wouldn't CONDONE physically attacking him, it seems like a few of you at least kind of get it. quote:10. Bryce Harper

Three DUIs. THREE. He apparently quit drinking after the third one, and I mean, better late than never, but people won't exactly forget that he repeatedly endangered people's lives with his recklessness. There's also the fact that a woman accused him of sexual assault, but the woman wouldn't cooperate with the police investigation. Odúbel Herrera Team: Philadelphia Phillies Debut: April 6, 2015 What's to hate? quote:On May 27, 2019, at 8:33 pm, patrol officers responded to the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino, located at 600 Huron Avenue, for a report of a domestic violence incident. Officers arrived to find the victim, a 20 year old woman from Philadelphia, PA, speaking with security officers. The victim had visible signs of injury to her arms and neck that was sustained after being assaulted by her boyfriend, David Odubel Herrera, during a dispute. Though his girlfriend, the victim, chose to drop the DV charges, Herrera admitted that he "acted in an unacceptable manner" and was suspended for the rest of the season. Unacceptable indeed. quote:8.
