https://www.theopen.com/

We just finished up the Women's World Cup, a number of soccer confederation cups, the Cricket World Cup, and Wimbledon, the latter 2 of which went into double extra overtime. So you can't be faulted for forgetting that there's a major golf competition happening this week, the first time in Northern since 1951 and the second time outside England/Scotland ever.

The club has 2 courses and the one we're playing this week is called Dunluce Links. It's supposed to be quite good. The weather, on the other hand, is gonna be poo poo with temps in the mid 50s to low 60s and rain every day. Winds are expected to be moderate.

Gimme G-Mac.

Molinari has been riding a cold streak since making GBS threads the bed at the Masters but I agree. It seems like he has a better-than-top-10 chance to defend on another difficult course.

I'll take Leishman. Seems like a course for a guy who just pures irons all day.

Molinari is actually the next person on the odds list.

:shepface:God I fucking love Diablo 3 gold, it even paid for this shitty title:shepface:

I was surprised to see that the fairways and greens at Royal Portrush are fescue, and they deliberately give it the bare minimum water and nutrients to prevent poa or other grasses from taking over. I think that’s pretty cool considering the push for less resource-intensive courses here in the US.

Matsuyama.
My :20bux: depending on availability to reach you, of course!

These are...weight bearing hips. Meant for low shots and low scores. ...You understand?

My Roku Streaming Stick+ arrived last night but the NBC Sports app freezes on the loading screen. Fortunately my TV has a built in Chromecast so I can cast from the NBC Sports app on my phone, but the whole point of getting the Roku was so I could just navigate with the remote instead of getting my phone involved. loving lame.

I hope it stays windy and dry throughout the tournament. Really test the ability of the players in a risk reward scenario.

I wonder if there is so much money in golf now that a lot of the really talented guys cash in early and then just mail it in.

I think thats why Tiger was so compelling, he blew up early but clearly was obsessed with winning to the point of destroying his body and the rest of his life. I don't get the impression that a guy like Rory is grinding on the range 6 days a week anymore.

He's hit 2 excellent shots in a row now. I think the grimace on the first hole was due to bad shot.

If I was making $25 million/year playing golf in the most beautiful places in the world, I’d enjoy myself and ensure I’m mentally healthy, make sure I don’t burn out.

Rory pretty much said in a Feherty interview a few years ago that the money doesn't matter anymore, he has more than he'll ever need. I'm just not sure how much he's enjoying playing golf anymore.

Isn't Rory more of a Florida target point and shoot type hits it a mile high all the time golfer anyway? Sure he won an Open and has Top 20's in a few of them as well as an Irish Open (at the K Club Palmer - a lake filled Florida course) but still.

He's just not a guy that I think can adjust his game too much and all this pressure of a "home event" was just too much and I'm not totally sure why he was such a favorite besides being from nearby. His jet to leave back to Florida is already warming up.

yeah Tiger's grimace was one of a back tweak, I know that look

....Koepka gonna tap these chumps out early.
