Shield hero was fairly popular outside of ADTRW yeah. It wasn't like, completely well received and there were a ton of people who didn't like it, but there were also a ton of people who did enjoy it. One thing to remember is that most people who consume media don't really think about it on a critical level, and probably less go out of their way to learn about the source materials and spin offs unless they absolutely loved it. It getting a lot of negative attention at first actually wound up giving it more word of mouth, which made it more visible for your average consumer to stumble across it.

Pretty much the entire anime fanbase has heard of Shield Hero since its anime debut simply from the proliferation of the comment, "Something is rising and it isn't the Shield Hero" on nearly every anime waifu fanart picture that gets posted on reddit.

Keep in mind that the translators get to write the descriptions on Mangadex. From what I understand, it's just a story that's sympathetic to sex workers and approaches it a relatively mature way. Unlike the translators.

If we're going by the prepubs (spoilers from next volume if you care) yes since we have confirmation in P3V1 that Bindewald is still alive and nothing in the volume 2 ones so far has indicated that he has been executed. Note that it's probably been about 3-5 months after the end of P2V4 at this point.

Information from prepubs indicates that there is more than one type of magic contract and that only the ones used by commoner merchants are limited to a single city (presumably they exist at the scale of duchy and nation). I would guess the contract is enforced outside of the normal area using magic tools like that ring, but we don't know the exact scale of contract used by count toad. That said, there is a little bit of a plot hole left since the contract apparently didn't burn up like every type of magic contract we've seen including contracts between nobles.

That's the general idea since I think people are also trying to tiptoe around surrounding events/people involved with the ending of part 2. If you want a more detailed explanation, her identity as a commoner is killed in the legal sense since some nobles needed to do some identity laundering to accomplish their goals. This comes along with a name change and joining the nobility.

There's been a couple new stories (and ones I never brought up) that are pretty interesting so far. The Villainess Lives Twice I love this one. The MC is, well, kind of evil. She was abused by her mother growing up and turned out pretty twisted and did some really, really horrible things to make her brother the Emperor before heavily paying the price for it. Coming to terms with how messed up she is and what she had done, she tries to sacrifice her life to turn back time to give the hero a second chance to save the Empire, but messes up and instead sends her memories back instead. So she vows to use her second chance to help the hero rise to power. The MC in this is darker and more evil than other villainess-style MCs. She paired up with Mr. Righteous, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out in the future. Things are starting to pick up a bit now as she is finally beginning to execute her plans. Now That I've Been Chosen to be the Villainess, I'll Show You an Elegant Performance! It's a typical otome game story, but the capture targets and the villainess are all actors trying to hook up the prince + heroine. It has a sort of Bakarina vibe to it, but without the really dumb MC. She is really playing up the villain angle well, but the prince and heroine just aren't biting properly. Only two chapters so far so it could be a hit or a miss. Not sure yet. Tearmoon Empire Story The Empire falls and Princess Mia gets her head chopped off, only to awaken back when she was younger while holding her bloody diary. This time, the utterly selfish and pea-brained princess will desperately struggle to avoid all things guillotine related in her life. I like this one a lot and I've read both light novel volumes, but sadly the manga isn't updated that often.

So... instead of acting evil for the greater good like your example, she's acting nice for petty and spiteful reasons. Eventually though she realizes that even by sucking up to people and manipulating everyone she'll never actually be respected because she's a woman in a patriarchal society, and so even if she plays the perfect good girl her only reward will be to get married off to some nobleman she's never met. So she tries to figure out how to become independent and start a business and stuff. It turns out society forcing woman into opposing madonna/whore archetypes was the real villainess all along.
