How about Spike’s Tactical and their Not Today Antifa ad shortly after the Unite the Right rally where a neonazi drove a car into a crowd of peaceful counter-protesters and murdered Heather Heyer and injured many others.

https://www.newsweek.com/not-today-antifa-gun-company-offers-zero-apologies-threatening-communist-783542

Notice how the ad has Charleston listed, the city where Heather Heyer was murdered by a neonazi for counterprotesting.

Apparently Spike’s decided to take the stance of standing in solidarity with the neoconfeds, neonazis, and other alt-right hate groups against the terror of anti-fascists.

This is on top of their history of cashing in on islamophobia with their Crusader branded rifles.

Whoops we accidentally made a lower with a white supremacist logo because we wanted to make fun of people who like equal rights for all.

Also we definitely made fun of people with autism on our Auto selector position on purpose and we don’t regret it.

It is a little tricky sometimes to come up with good terminology to describe the reactionary right and the chuckleheads therein just because it’s such a diverse constellation of fragile white egos.

You’ve got the y’all-qaeda types like Bundy and his ilk who take their fundamentalist religious views off on an even more tenuous direction. They’ve been around for a long time and most people are at least somewhat familiar with them. Bundy is especially heinous because the Mormons don’t exactly have a great history of being treated fairly by the government when trying to arm and defend themselves. (Hell, Joseph Smith and his brother were murdered by the very militia entrusted by the state with protecting them while they were in custody. It was legal to murder any and all Mormons within the state of Missouri until the 1970s.)

Then there are the Oathkeepers, a bunch of cops and vets and similar types who declared that they were sworn to protect the United States from Obama and have been shockingly silent on crimes from the presidents before and after him. Pretty sure they also offered to help hide and defend from the cops the republican congressmen who fled the state capital in Oregon so the state couldn’t pass any legislation for a while.

Threepers and other militia types that wrap themselves in false patriotism overlap pretty heavily in that group.

Then there’s the openly white supremacist groups like the Proud Boys and Patriot Prayer and Identity Evropa or whatever they’ve rebranded to.

We could probably mention the Qanon crazies that have done things like mail bombs to prominent Democrats and murder the leader of a NYC crime family.

Larry Vickers also has a long history of bad class reviews and unprofessional behavior, like a class review on LightFighter where he spent most of it dicking around on his phone and making the assistant instructors do most of the actual instruction. And of course there was the time somebody had a bad experience at a Hackathorn course with it just not clicking with him, so the guy posted a very fair review and explaining why personally it wasn’t a good class but for others it could have been.

So of course our chubby boy Vickers decides to come along and start making vague threats in the thread for no reason even though it had nothing to do with him.

No for real what are you saying Kanine because insisting on calling yourself a left-libertarian instead of an anarcho-syndicalist or something more commonly understood is dumb as hell. Libertarians are people who hate age of consent laws and the criminalization of human trafficking for pretty much anybody who speaks American English. Trying to reclaim it or whatever is just going to be a contrarian uphill battle.

It’s definitely possible to have a fade, undercut, or side shave that doesn’t make you look like a proud boy, you just usually have to have decent facial hair and don’t style your bangs like an idiot.

Punisher is peak "hard man making hard choices" pro-fash fantasy. Like Rorschach is more reserved as a caricature than Punisher himself is at this point. He literally saw the Nazis moving through his nation ( sorry- in 1940s Europe, forgot I had to specify now ) so it was very much A Statement.

A statement that I didn't get when I saw it the first time and just thought, as a teenager, that the movie was ripshit cool. But to be fair, let's be honest- if you just turn your brain off and watch it as an action movie... it is pretty loving cool.

Heinlein himself is kind of a weirdo and not everything he says merits thought or even reading, but Starship Troopers was, as someone who's read a lot of GiP... kind of interesting? It suffers in the way a lot of old novels do with new audiences ( the structure and dialogue are kind of clunky and dated ), there's more than a few unnecessary monologues where I can practically see the author's shadow looming over my shoulder as I read it-

But it has Ideas and Statements about the use of force and the mentality of someone that is a part of a force that's kind of interesting? The troopers are deployed by literally being loaded into cartridges and shot out of a giant space gun. The metaphor and stuff being used in the book isn't nearly as pro-war as a lot of people think. The protagonist might be, but having read the whole thing, it's hard to eat that whole book and go 'yeah author loved war'.

And that's without getting into how Heinlein was a weirdo that would have loving loved the whackest-rear end anime porn you can think of

It’s definitely a good companion piece for Forever War if you want to understand somebody you know who is a veteran and doesn’t seem able to be able to properly reintegrate into regular society. The actual professor lectures about how actually fascism is pretty good as long as the hated outsiders are aliens are unpleasant, but the actual mentality of Johnny is really good and pretty accurate.

Edit: the movie doesn’t have power armor so it sucks in comparison.
