Real Mafia players don't need votefinder. It's early enough D1 I need to ask; is that a serious vote on Sal?

Amalgam flicked open a near rusted zippo, sparked a cigarette and had a hearty laugh punctuated by thick plumes of smoke. Someone with a bit more enthusiasm might even say he laughed his rear end off. "Cut the crap, Humalong. You're drunk."

Stranger that Humalong voted, then made another post shortly thereafter having forgot he did in fact vote for Sal. It's oddly self-conscious.

Anomalous Amalgam posted:Oh yeah that's weird. Are you calling byers a scum role cop or hal? I copped Hal and received a SCUM result. I'm calling Byers a scum rolecop that rolecopped lumpen. He knows Lumpen's actual role, in addition to alignment (obviously), and now anyone that provides any result on lumpen will give the scum info into that player's role, which can be used to help prioritize night kills. The logic checks out and there are no other possibilities IMHO.

b-minus1 posted:I copped Hal and received a SCUM result. That is an interesting theory. I copped Byers as Town so it can't be possible unless I"m one of the insane cops (which very well could be the case since there is more of those than just straight cops)

b-minus1 posted:I copped Hal and received a SCUM result. Scum know all alignments already, they know which results are accurate and which aren't. They don't need to focus on one player. The logic is about 180 degrees from checking out.

b-minus1 posted:I copped Hal and received a SCUM result. In fact, let's use this as an example. Suppose Hal is town and b is town. Based on this claim alone, scum know b is not Sane, Naive, or Binary. They don't need a rolecop to do that math, and the rolecop does nothing more than solidify their information on the player they rolecopped. Town can get value by overlapping actions on a player (similar to a standard Dethy). Scum don't need to. Scum want us not to overlap.

GenericGirlName posted:They do not start the game knowing what flavor of cop everyone is. They have to cop instead of night action for that info. Yes, but they don't need people to claim actions on the rolecopped target (see my last post, I know we posted at the same time). b is saying scum would want claims about the rolecopped player, which makes no sense.

Byers2142 posted:In fact, let's use this as an example. Ah I see, you meant they can figure it out, not that they already know. A similar thought: scum can also use the Non-Overlapping claims to confuse town by lying about having also copped that person. Tis the dangers of a crazy setup.

Mr. Humalong posted:trying to head off the idiots who will say "if u got a scum result y u no vote sal?????" that would be kind of a scummy line of questioning in a game where your own results probably don't mean much at first. Given that you don't trust your result, you're voting to prevent someone approaching you with a line of questioning that town probably wouldn't???

GenericGirlName posted:Ah I see, you meant they can figure it out, not that they already know. Yes, but we should still make those claims. When I asked for Lumpen-specific actions, it was more so I didn't miss one since those are useful to me to self-solve.
