I think if you ask the question "when did you realise that she was a nazi" I think you have to be pretty specific you're not talking about the point that you realised that she was literally there in WW2 having dinner with Hitler and instead are talking about her being a neo-nazi/alt-right. As someone who's never read the comics, when she's first introduced I it was possible that her name wasn't actually meant to indicate that, given her powers, it's not until the scene in the building where she's clearly enjoying killing the people there that it became obvious to me. In particular her feminist and anti vought comments early on threw me off and made me think they were taking the character in a different direction.

The reveal that she was actually a literal WW2 nazi was excellent in that in hindsight all the clues were there, but I didn't think it was obvious until it was revealed.

That's fair, but this thread will always have posters who have read the comics (I have), and people who have not posting together. Obvious spoiler rules apply, but some people knew going in. Obviously the show is heavily an adaptation, and not a necessarily direct re-telling. Going into the season, I assumed she would be a racist, but it wasn't necessarily obvious to me that she would've been the original dude from the comic with reversed genders. That said, I put her down as 'obvious neo-nazi troll and scheming' around the ending of ep 2, and not just a chud media personality. Her plotline was very interesting in the show, and I appreciated what they did. I'm not from the US, so I didn't get the Portland clue either, nice. Did know about stormfront the forum since I'm terminally online :(

At least there's not many people who would think "Stormfront is a lovely name for a girl" who weren't already likely to call their kid that.

I honestly don’t think dressing up as Stormfront for Comic-Con or whatever is any worse than dressing up as like Darth Vader, you can cosplay villains, or even enjoy villains, without agreeing with their motives.

Stormfront was such an effective character because we, the audience, are introduced to her humor and style and wit first, and Cash is extremely charming, so everyone who doesn’t already know who she is gets to like her.

I went through the same thing with Spider-Man: Far From Home. As a comics fan, I knew who Mysterio was immediately and so Gyllenhall didn’t soak my panties the way he usually does, but after the movie the friends I’d brought both talked about the impact of his big reveal and his treachery as being huge gut checks.

i thought having stormfront be in pictures with actual hitler was part of the joke/commentary. she is obviously racist but it takes seeing her with a picture of hitler to convince viewers she is. i think its supposed to be direct parallels to the US today. if it isnt something explicit and obvious people will work around it and still defend it.

Nah dude there's a pretty big difference between Darth Vader and an actual Nazi. The Dark Side of the Force is not a real life politicial party that tried to eradicate minority groups for real.

yeah, this. the Hitler photo is where they grab you by the shoulders and shake and scream at you. "do we have to just come out and say it? you couldn't take the hint?!?!"

i liked that they had Stormfront bring up Pewdiepie at one point because he's one of those sneaky "just kidding bro" media types that dog whistle nazi poo poo and then try to walk it back.

Still weirds me out how popular the First Order is with Disney Parks. Lots of videos of them doing propaganda talk and kids are right on point. I mean.... it's fictional but still....am I the only one disturbed? Why does fascism appeal to many people and should we be just tossing our kids into it like its nothing?

Truth. I mean... I knew this one guy from the american south. Funny guy. Showed us an old video of his dressing up as a klansman for halloween. One of the videos is him walking to a group of African Americans and they go from shocked then angry. As things were about to turn ugly the klan guy takes off his hood to show... a brother darker than Wesley Snipes. Everybody laughed. He mentioned how he did it once and it was funny but I don't think he'd do it again in 2020. Part of the story he didn't often lead with was how he didn't put the costume on at his apartment or near his mom's house as he didn't want to upset his grandma or mom. He was also worried about some white guy going yeehaw.

I mean... people will do what they do but realize that, at the end of the day

And you are going to piss some people off, make others feel weird/bad and make the worst kind of trash people say "right on brother." Even if you are one of the groups going in the ovens maybe dressing like a nazi isn't the best idea. At least until real nazis aren't a growing trend. Also... this attached pic? From a goonmeet in '04. Don't do this either. Ironically being racist is still racist.

As I understand it, during The Troubles FYAD got reopened under the expectation that they would stop harassing the rest of the forums (this was largely not happening anyways, but that's another saga). So FYAD immediately started a "squeezing Hitler's sexy boobs and rear end" thread as a joke about being called capital "N" nazis by a pack of crazies, as would be expected.

Said pack of crazies discovered the sexy Hitler thread and spun that into them being "for realsies Nazis here's the proof" and Lowtax, in his infinite wisdom, declared the subforum dead and buried and then went on Vice declaring it was filled with actual mini-Hitlers.

edit:
I'm sure there's more people that have way more insight into it than that, but that's about all I know about it.

I'm reminded of all the "choose your side" advertising they did, where you are supposed to choose between the good guys or the goose marching genocidal fascist analogs. They went really hard into the storm troopers and first order stuff. I mean I guess it's a recognizable aesthetic that they can have a bunch of people dress up as in their park, but still.

Not only is the show heavily divergent from the comics, but they also actively subvert certain expectations those familiar with the comics might have, Stillwell being an obvious example.

I also cant help but feel that they're setting up Hughie to get fridged (in service of Starlight's character) by getting suckered by Not-AOC. And he's the main character & audience analogue in the comics.
