I almost did fist pumps. When we got to the mall scene and Arnie covered up John and fought the T-1000, my son let out a, "What the hell!?!" It was fantastic. I'll never get over that Cameron first thought of having the T1000 be played by Michael Biehn, but nixed it on account of fear of confusing the audience. Biehn's still pissed too

Has a sex pest in previous media gotten the level of humiliation Deep has? Most of the time we see "payback" against a rapist it is violent and quick. But Deep's "punishment" has been this slow, ongoing karmic torture. He's had to repeatedly watch the death of animal friends over and over. He himself got sexually assaulted and really wasn't in a position to do anything about it (a fact the abuser clearly knew). He got manipulated by a cult and forced to marry a lady that gives terrible blow jobs. Not to mention the errand Homelander compelled him to do at the end of the series. Obviously he's avoided getting killed or horribly maimed but in some ways his fate is almost worse as he endures ongoing humiliation over and over. He's just destined to step on rakes for the entire series.

I think it would be interesting to see how the narrative would have treated him if his big body dysmorphia epiphany had led to some kind of real growth and introspection. But of course it didn't so we get the Deep we all know and, dare I say, love. I know I do.

He's just sooooo dumb and I guess it explains so much about him when looking back on his terrible judgement. Like we all know he could have totally seduced Starlight legitimately. He's handsome and he can talk to marine life. Come on! Why be a creep about it? And I thought maybe he would end up as some kind of ecoterrorist but again, he's too dumb to think that far ahead. That and much of his ecological convictions are likely very narrow in scope. He can talk to marine life, they're his friends (at least he thinks they are). The H3 he drives suggests his issues about polluting the ocean are more personal in nature, like being blase about littering but pissed if someone unloaded a dumpster of garbage in your friends front yard.
