I knew a Captain at 82nd that was all that kind of thing but at least had his jump wings...his Basic Jump Wings. He was also Civil Affairs come to think of it.

Meanwhile almost every single person in my MOS had the thought process of "gently caress that I'm here to fix things and keep it all running. Why would I want to blow my kneecaps through my spine for something I'll never do?"

McNally posted:He was a Guard officer. Guard doesn't send gently caress-ups to schools because the unit has to pay for it. Ergo, the reason he didn't go to any schools... Actually, some do. Ask me why New Mexico cant get ranger school slots and youll learn about corrupt cops dying on a range because of their drug problems. The guy who helped cover up the drug problem got promoted and actual combat vets got shafted when we accurately predicted what would happen if they kept fat blue lining it. I also learned today that Hegseth picked up major as an IRR promotion. I know it's utterly meaningless and I know it's stupid, but I am personally offended that I didn't pick up an IRR promotion after spending three years at the top of my battalion's promotion list but never picking up E5 because there was never a slot, but this dude made field grade.

Listened to a BBC America story about Hegseth/Trump and their speeches. Hegseth gives strong "I don't understand why this WWII-style frontal assault got everyone killed" vibes.

Cover up guy also hosed over a snco who actually did squirrely poo poo, had a lot of the "i can train the rest of the unit" certs and wondered why he couldn't get people certified. End result is a lot of experienced people with years of combat zone time per person are out and idiots reign. I look forward to the cop squad causing another international incident. Anyway, just started Xenoblade Chronicles X Remastered. Great music. Can recommend.

As an HR dude, I absolutely checked for up to date PT records before putting title 32 dudes on title 10. Although, if you've got a 19 inch neck you can probably have a gut like a beach ball and pass tape.

I only know army, not sure about the others. But the new system is weird where if you lose weight but not in your gut, you can go from taping out to failing. By losing weight.

Huh, well that's a change that would probably have nailed me when I was in. Always was kinda close-ish my whole time, had to get taped two or three times but didn't fail. If they implemented it like that I probably would have ended up on the fatbody program at the least.

Lol yeah the first thing that got smaller was always my neck so I was hosed if I actually tried to drop weight. I'm actually smaller now 6y out of the navy than I was for the last six of my ten in. Turns out stress drinking is bad. I also haven't had one instance of sciatica flare up since I got out, after spending like 3mos active with no feeling in my right leg lol

iwentdoodie posted:Lol yeah the first thing that got smaller was always my neck so I was hosed if I actually tried to drop weight. loving sciatica. That poo poo sounds like a 17th century malady. 17 years of delivering bread, shoving around 200lb stacks of the poo poo, jumping off the truck, jumping off the dock, whatever, and the only real injury I got was some wounded pride from jumping into a patch of dock scum and busting my rear end. So anyways, I've got the sciatica. It's so bizarre, too. Someone ran a full stock cart into my right leg and looked mighty concerned that they'd hurt me. Nope. You could jam a nail in there and I couldn't feel it. Huge bruise, broke the skin. But wearing jeans? Pins and needles every time the fabric brushes against me.

This'll probably change soon, but the current Navy tape rules are that if your abdominal measurement is 39" or less, you pass, regardless of neck size or height. So if you're like 5'0" you can basically be spherical.
