Sadly i went to a military religious school with mandatory jrotc from 6th until 10th so it was a before homeroom after school thing. Christianity got its own class tho because why not. And the people doing uniform inspections every morning only vaguely knew how many activities you were in so after i got the 2rd triple ribbon bar i stopped because gently caress having to pay for those stupid things. Also "your tie is crooked by an 1/8th of an inch you lose promotion points today" cool go gently caress yourself.

Jrotc was the reason i went from "maybe the military would be cool" to "gently caress that noise"

Yeah that sucks. Our organization was super easy and laid back. It took something truly stupid to really cause a problem for anyone (like say...stealing a fire hydrant, then putting a BDU blouse on it because it was the in way of formation and too heavy to move in time).

She said that the Trump administration had banned travel for all parts of the armed forces to Mexico because of the wall or something. I was like 'WHAT? REALLY?'. I suppose her son is lying to her about the reasoning or whatever, then. I think she just hears what he says about it. She did mention Tijuana too. (She's not a Trump supporter). Thanks for the info! I though it was too weird to be true.

Remember when the filibuster was destroyed because it benefited the party in power, then the other party took over and it was bad for everything ever since?

If you put all the legislative power in the House, how do you expect that to end differently?

Here's a comparison, because I knew a former Force Recon dude. The closest I ever came to finding out what they did over there was when he was ugly-crying from survivor's guilt as a mutual friend and I coaxed a loaded AR15 from his hands while his wife in the next room was screaming and begging him not to kill himself.

E- I have no clue if it still this way, but back about 8-10 years ago, the Army required everyone to physical credit cards to keep on hand for travel on orders and what not. My unit told everyone to expect one in the mail, read the documents enclosed blah blah blah. This was followed by a brief that said it was ok to use it for whatever you want, just be sure to pay it off within 30 days. I immediately shredded mine, but didn't hear any good tales. But that "go ahead and use it for whatever!" Had to have led to something fun that I missed out on.

Uh..."use it for whatever" is a huge loving NO-NO on the GTC. People get busted all the goddamned time for using at the local Walmart by their home, or at strip clubs, etc. But if you have one, you're actually required to use it for lodging and airfare at a minimum. Shredding it would probably get a letter of counseling in the AF, whereas abusing it can get you an Art 15.
