They like to delist/relist it with arbitrary prices every week or so. You can see the history on Zillow. There was a time period where the owner was delisting it and dropping the price by $1.00 weekly. It was offered to rent, delisted and then offered for sale 2 days later. The owners are as insane as the house.

that would just be silly

clearly it’s the house itself that has somehow developed an unearthly sentience, and it interacts with the Zillow listing in an attempt to communicate with others like it

Yeah, the pricing history is interesting, original price was 549900, ultimately sold for 305k to apparently The Wiley Companies Inc who now list it for 529k, its the cycle of life.

Look at the length of time between price changes, listings and delistings. It's batshit insane.

gently caress with that pricing I'm guessing someone tried to min/max the list pricing. House flippers do this all the time. Find a cheap-ish house in an area, add a tiny claustrophobic bedroom or two along with another bathroom (usually in a former linen closet) and then re-list it as THREE BEDROOM TWO BATHROOM and immediately add at least 20k to the price.

It's clear someone got a screaming deal on a church about to be demolished and took all the parts worth taking. Some of the veneer furniture/cabinets just scream 1960s church, same with the huge wooden frames around the windows and obviously the stained glass. It would explain the insane number of baseboard heaters, too. They bought it for ~300k and then thought they'd be clever by doubling the loving size of it.

Not only can you streamline falling and breaking your neck while getting out of the bath, you can also probably more easily get that cartoon effect of water flowing down your stairs from somebody letting the bathtub overflow.

In the responses he says the little cabinet there is filled with electric appliances and glassware.

This is how buildings are constructed in my bizarre nightmares when I subconsciously have to pee and can’t find a functional, non dangerous bathroom.

See, the wall on the right edge of the picture is pretty straight vertically, which probably means the picture was taken with the camera relatively level.

So why the gently caress does the rest of the room look like it's a) slanting to the left like crazy, and b) not even slanting steadily but all over the place. The kitchen(?) surfaces are not on the same angle as the fire place which is not on the same angle as the floor which is not on the same angle as the ceiling.

This house is a non-euclidian nightmare.

That listing says this is a neighbor to The Spy House.

Wait... WTF is The Spy House?

Actually, it's pretty interesting (although not nearly as wonky as whatever the hell is going on here).

quote:

Victor Purse, the man who built the hillside compound, was once a charismatic protocol officer for the U.S. State Department in the late 1950s. He befriended the Queen of England and the King of Saudi Arabia, to the chagrin of some of his superiors.

Purse and his wife, Alice, transformed a one-room log cabin he bought from a murder suspect desperate for money into a lake-front retreat where they hosted lavish parties, entertained U.S. Attorney General Robert Kennedy and later rented it to the CIA as a safe house for defecting Russian spies.
