I’m going to guess they added a porch, deck, a roof-window dormer, and a handcrafted exterior brick staircase, then enclosed that staircase with another porch because it got slippery in the rain. Quirky but understandable. then they had a series of minor strokes and went buck wild with dozens of new porch/dormer/deck/roof-extensions, enclosing it all with windows again and again until they’d absorbed a tree and half the backyard and had a dozen front doors.

Then add a second door facing it, such that walking out of it would result in falling through open air onto the bottom of the stairs. Now, all the stairs are shaped irregularly and have nails not seated fully. That was the situation in my friends punk rock house and oh my. After a party I fell asleep in what I thought was my friend's room and turns out due to other Escher-esque design decisions it was in fact someone else's room. Which had more than one door into it. This was okay, because punk rock house.

That's not even all the photos. https://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/450-W-Grixdale_Detroit_MI_48203_M37779-89409 This house is not for living, human beings. Just look at it! The kitchen is practically sterile. I bet if you opened the fridge you would find no food, only collectible figurines. This house is for the knick-knacks, and the knick-knacks alone, they own the house.

I remember as a kid going to my grandparents house. It was an old stone Manor House in Yorkshire split into two houses. The kitchen was huge and still has the bells for each of the rooms. Honestly, the place creeped me out a bit. It was big, old, and creaky. Going to the bathroom at night was an exercise in running as fast as possible before the things in the darkness got you. But I was a kid, and if I was given the house now to live in, I’d love to live in it. The houses posted here? Creep me the gently caress out as an adult. They’re just... wrong. They’ve not been built to be loved and lived in. Not even built for raw unemotional utility, They’ve been built as a sacrifice to the god of some deranged man. They’re houses of malice and ill will.

The Cherub Room is ominous. With the little gold gnomes on the chairs. Everything else is so busy, and then there's the Cherub Room. Pristine. White and gold. Almost symmetrical. Feels like the Cherub Room should be last. Feels like the entire house leads up to the Cherub Room, and then the Cherub Room takes you somewhere else entirely.
