This one is weird and obscure, but what the hell: when I was in third grade, I was having a tough time learning my times tables because I sucked at math. One of my mom's coworkers made a tape of Hap Palmer's Singing Multiplication Tables and it helped a lot.

Included at the beginning of this tape was an answering machine message from the perspective of a cat. This was 1993, so quirky answering machine messages were a hot commodity at that time. At the end of the message, the male cat speculated what he was going to be served for dinner: "Maybe some chicken stew (?). Or maybe seafood [something], ahoy!" followed by the sound of him licking his lips.

Nine year old me loved this message and listened to it every time I'd play the tape, but I eventually recorded over it - and Hap Palmer - because I was obsessed with making dumb little recordings. I'd love to find this recording again, but it's so obscure that I doubt I ever will.

e: For clarity, it's the cat answering machine message I'm looking for. It's not connected to Hap Palmer at all; I think my mom's coworker just reused a tape she had been using for her answering machine.

You could fish round on the Hap Palmer official website's lyrics pages to try and identify the tracks. I'm not sure if the website's still extant, but it's archived:

Thanks! That's really cool and didn't know such a thing existed.

My white whale isn't actually Hap Palmer related, though. I think the cat answering machine message was something that was on the tape before my mom's coworker recorded the Hap Palmer stuff.

There was an MSpaint thread once, either in GBS or (less likely) PYF, where a goon did a little MSPaint/memeface comic about trying to order a pizza while extremely stoned. All I remember is the pizza guy asking the goon what they wanted on their pizza, and the goon sits there for a panel, and then says, "... mayonnaise?"

There is a DOS game I played a lot with my brother around when windows 3.1 came out.

The game is a top-down shooter where you are a human spaceman fighting aliens and stuff. It had lots of level and weapons pickups. I don't know the name of the game but it was on the base directory of my father's computer as WAR.EXE. There were 2 other games named APACHE.EXE and MARS.EXE. What could WAR.EXE have been? My father was big on battletech and later mechwarrior but this game was neither of those. DOS game, top-down, huge spaceship, shooting aliens. There was a rocket launcher, I think the pickups were random but I might be imagining that.

MARS.EXE was this game, I know that much:

I learned how to use DOS before I could read so I know the name of the copy my father left in the C:\ directory but I'm unsure the name of the game because I let my older brother read all the wordy computer games for me.

Please help me find a kids show that was on in Australia in the early/mid 1990s. From memory it was black and white, either a hand drawn or a kind of linotype/cross hatched animation, and had a boy and a girl in it (possibly siblings). What really made it stick in my brain was that each episode ended with the girl saying "it's a good thing XXXX saved us kor something similar) because something much worse might have happened". I definitely remember the last part of that sentence and being weirded out about what a strange ending this show had.

It could have just been this one episode, but "something much worse might have happened" is stuck in my brain being said by a little girl (maybe English) and I really want to know WTF this show was!

album art fits, blockhead is sort of instrumental hip hop, but it's from 2005, not new yorky and not much vocals. what you describe sounds more like 3rd bass above, who had two albums (no cityscapes), 2 extremely brooklyn-sounding white MCs and a very good scratch DJ but were only active '88-'93

album art on this from 2003 fits, and it has a lot of RJD2 sample production and scratching, although I wouldn't call Diverse very NY-sounding vocally
