gimme the GOD drat candy posted:for whatever reason, anya is not actively being sought out by ostania. she fell through the cracks somehow. i guess that's what happens when you periodically purge your secret labs running human experiments. if they were looking for anya, it wouldn't be hard to find her. and obviously, if ostania already both knew about anya's current location and wanted to take her into custody, they could do so very easily. that's the benefit of having scummy stasi fuckers like yuri on payroll. It's entirely possible that they assumed Anya was a failure, and just shuffled her off into the orphanage.

If he recognizes Anya as a specific test subject in that moment, he also know what she was being experimented on for. It's possible that while he perhaps can't hide everything, he knows enough to purposely NOT think about certain topics.
