Can they really be regularly disappearing women just for being single? I kind of assumed that was just paranoia on the part of WISE, because actively persecuting all unmarried women as spies sounds like a lot of work for no real benefit.

Someone shows Loid a set of statistics showing that he and Yor have a below-average number of children for their age and official time married. Why, it's almost... suspicious!

I could see a Scruffy X Daybreak ship, since it would give Scruffy a chance to be the competent one.

Also I feel like this is probably not the first time she's written a manifesto on why she and Twilight should be paired together.

Yeah, I think there's just some dissonance there because there's a general understanding that it's possible for spies to be morally "respectable" even if they aren't on your side, but the same isn't really true of domestic assassination squads that bump off your own people who they deem disloyal. I forget, what's the relationship between Garden and Ostania's government?
|
|
|
|
Yeah, I think part of the issue is that even if Garden is doing their due diligence, Yor is too dumb/naive to actually judge whether due diligence is being done. Honestly I'm looking forward to getting the backstory on how Yor became an assassin in the first place. Presumably it involves the Shopkeeper seeing her on the street accidentally destroy some fool and thinking "wow, I wish I had an agent who could do that, but, like, on purpose."

I mean, Anya can literally read the mind of a dog (admittedly a very smart dog) and get words out of it, so whatever is going on in Demetrius has to be really weird.

Everything about this chapter is delightful. I love the way SPY X FAMILY is able to swerve deftly between incredibly high stakes and incredibly low stakes and take them both with a straight face.

Ytlaya posted:I feel like if he can read minds, it might be in some way that has more limitations than Anya. The main limitation on Anya's ability (aside from the new moon thing that only happened once) is that she's a little kid and doesn't understand everything she sees. I feel like the main limitation on Desmond's power would be that he's a broken old man who doesn't believe true communication is possible and misunderstands most of what he picks up.

It's always nice to see a manga with kids that actually resemble kids in their appearance and actions, as opposed to the ones where people have to keep saying "please stop being attracted to our protagonists; they're 10/12/16, in spite of how we draw them and how they act". (This was something I really liked about Ponyo; Sosuke's serious nature seemed very on-point for a kid his age.)

The thing about Yuri is that for him to become a decent character he needs to abandon literally everything about himself.

Yuri needs Daybreak as a love interest. I'm serious about this; giving him a secret gay crush would bring everything about him into the correct focus.

Paracelsus posted:Not all emotionally close or psychologically significant relationships are predicated on sexual attraction. Yuri's concepts of happiness and stability were built around the reassuring presence of Yor and her providing him attention, and the prospect of losing her near-exclusive attention, and everything that he views as being even a possibility of happiness and a good life along with that, clearly makes him freak out. 95% of stories about siblings getting jealous about another sibling getting into a relationship are ultimately founded on loss aversion, not actual desire. I mean, this isn't not Oedipal.
