He's a thug that has never done anything remotely competent in any appearance he's ever had and the only reason he isn't dead is Loid caught feelings from his fake family. Yuri got effortlessly dropped twice in this single encounter. He's not being setup for anything but a joke with a sister complex.

i think the first time was loid changing his disguise and just pretending to be a knocked out yuri

Finally started watching this and I already love it after just one episode. Two questions though:

1: Is the manga still going (and did the anime version cut/change anything from it)?

2: Related to the first, what chapter are we up to as of the Season 2 premiere so I know where to start reading after I catch up with the anime

1. yes, and so far just seems to mostly be minor reordering (S2 premiere happened a while earlier in the manga, but no real plot impact)
2. based on the preview, looks like ep 2 is going to be ch 39

given that shes a kid, i imagine anya probably can't fully connect the dots on how the desmond family situation impacts damian even with the mindreading. in that sense, it's really adorable that she responded by sharing her biggest secret

besides, precognition is just the only bond ability we are aware of. very reasonable to assume that the shady government experiments also granted him a longer lifespan

So has the dog also been experimented on or is it just a coincidence that he also has the Desmond stare™.

max is a good boy he was just excited to see damien but yeah the eyes seem deliberate, and we already know about bond

other than that agree with what people have already mentioned: excellent chapter, i feel very bad for damien, and donovan can probably read minds. also curious what demetrius' deal is because it doesn't seem to be the same thing

loved getting to see the rest of the academy gang tho

e: and yeah i don't think this is endgame, i think we're just learning more about the newish (major?) character who is directly connected to both damian and yor

great chapter and it's a credit to endo's character development that anya remembering her real mother felt more anxious than anything (for me anyway). i'm sure it's setup for later, but was nice to end things with her other mom caring for her

I think they’re starting to go somewhere with Yuri slowly coming to grips with his co-dependency on Yor, especially with the end of the chapter of him coming into his empty apartment and Yor coming home to her family.

stuker
Jul 9, 2003

agreed, i think my liking the end of the chapter is just a matter of rather seeing endo maybe develop him into something more rather than just drop him from the story

both of which i think i'd take over what we've gotten so far because it's a pretty boring archetype

We don't necessarily know that Garden is opposed to Loid though. I mean, they would definitely frown on a foreign spy agency being in the nation (and probably try to kill Loid before he could explain himself), but they've been shown to be kinda wary about the Desmonds too.

yeah imo the poacher arc indicated that while the garden is nominally in service of ostania, their real loyalty is to the predecessor imperial govt rather than the current parliamentary govt

not a lot to indicate they're trying to revive that prior gov't so far, but if they are i think their goals and loid's are fairly aligned for now
