This is NOT a thread to discuss illegal betting (well if you have funny stories about it that's fine or stupid legal bets people make like 100,000 USD on the Warriors making the NBA playoffs that's also fine) or offshore sites that improperly take US bettors. This is for discussing sports betting, both as an industry (like the sports broadcasting thread) and in terms of bets people make. It's fine to discuss legal betting in Europe or another country if you are a resident of that country or made that bet while there (same for the US) Specifically it is legal in 8 US States now iirc (pending in many more) and available both on-site* (in places that are so depressing that it should discourage you from actually gambling) and online, with PA and New Jersey leading the way. *Seriously it is. As a joke while staying at a hotel near an off-track/sports book place a friend and I decided to go in for a few minutes. We bet on nothing and just felt kind of depressed at the people wandering around there and left....this is what makes online attractive! lol US Sports books have started offering odds on a ridiculous amount of things, which isn't surprising as most are tied to well establish European companies, so if you have a desire to bet on Armenian soccer while in South Philly or the Pine Barrens....you can. Although E-Sports and goofy rear end current events or pro-wrestling is still confined to the UK and Ireland. Somethings like College sports are restricted depending on the state. In NJ I think the rule is you can't bet on in state teams while in PA go crazy on Temple, Villanova, and Penn State. This is not going to be like that insane horse betting thread which may have been run by a degenerate AI that someone linked once, as I'm hoping more then 2 people will post in it, and it will mostly be funny stories and industry talk. BEFORE ACTUALLY GAMBLING My own tips I thought up 1. Make sure you can afford to lose all the money and it will have NO impact on your life or responsibilities. Always assume you're an idiot and never will win. 2. NEVER gamble with the idea that your winnings can get you something you need or should be spending money on or saving for. 3. SET limits. PA for example requires sports books to offer a ton of limits on your activity and these aren't just good for people with problems. It's good for preventing problems or just allowing you to stay out of auto mode. Is it silly to set a $10 limit per month on wagering or deposits...No, it is not. It's dependent on what you can afford to lose or want to spend to keep it as a fun thing you do every now and then (like going to an arcade, that money is lost) and not being a degenerate gambler. Plus when you set a time limit you can't end it early. 4. You will NEVER win it back ( I mean you might, but you might also never have to listen to Drake again, both good, but very unlikely things), so don't think you can. 5. If you have a problem, get help, and exclude yourself. Pretty much all states require you to have the ability to self-exclude yourself. Also there is that 1-800-Gambler hotline you always see on ads in the US (which ironically sounds more like a number for lovely gambling tips back in the 1980s). Now with all that doom and gloom out of the way. Have some fun. Also if you want some free credit and you live are in PA/NJ you can use my referral link (full disclosure if you make a $10 wager in 7 days I get $50 in Fanduel fun bucks, not real cash though), just PM me and I'll send it to you. That's a way to try it out and not spend any of your own money. Oh also if you like making fun of Darren Rovell I'm sure you'll get a ton of chances in this thread.

I know it’s Reddit, but I found the test for if you have a gambling problem. https://www.reddit.com/r/sportsbook/comments/cedk3b/el_chapo_sentencing_today_sentenced_to_life_plus/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app Also how anyone could offer odds on that is beyond me, nowhere El Chapo could have been going other then ADX Florence.

Odds on a UK based franchise announced before Jan 2021 are 7/1 at Skybet, and odds that a UK based team is playing before Jan 2021 are 25/1. The team name odds are something else:

I always like how a WWE writer turned a $4 parlay into like $45K. DO YALL WANT A BOXC posted:paging jase1 to the thread, the icon of SA gambling Derp I totally forgot about his MMA godhood. All of my sports betting is illegal, I can’t wait until it comes to Florida. Which means it won’t because we are a such a lovely state. I always enjoy hearing about the industry though. I don’t ever use any of those hacks but I think it’s funny.

At the very least doesn’t Florida have Indian casinos?

https://twitter.com/DougESPN/status/1166747575262883840 Whew. I don't even know enough to know if that's a bad bet exactly, I just wouldn't be comfortable wagering 50 cents on Illinois to do anything.

Is there any reason to pick certain legal providers in your state over others past who gives you a better sign up bonus or something
