yeah sometimes poo poo just gets better on it's own

the net result is the science behind physiotherapy and surgeries is actually pretty loving lacking sometimes too

though it's neat af that they do fake surgeries on people to do double-blind studies of surgical procedures

also sometimes pain is just "in your head" and i don't mean that in a dismissive, patronizing way. the pain is real, but the underlying cause might just be an oversensitized nervous system.

but there's no test to really confirm this is the case, it's the absence of a physical cause that tends to suggest it

so then sometimes you'll think that was the issue and go through a million doctors and specialists and one day someone finds a benign tumour pressing on a nerve and cuts it out and bam, pain gone

all of these issues increase in likelihood as you age :toot:

they did lower it from 4 to 3 (max 1g every 6 hrs) in a lot of countries but thatís because they underestimated how much alcohol lowers your tolerance

Maybe it won't kill you but acetaminophen is a really bad drug to gently caress around with so I'm inclined to side with nbsd on this one.

overdosing on acetaminophen will absolutely kill you, in an extremely painful and drawn out way. always pay attention to other drugs you take because acetaminophen is added to all sorts of other drugs.

i've been working with my doctor on pain relief for over two years now, this isn't something i'm doing out of the blue or on my own. last year my doc said i can take acetaminophen long term, but i should never exceed 3g per day or 1g per 6 hr period, and i should only take it based on need (i should have written "i now take up to 3g per day" to make that more clear - i'm not literally taking 21g per week).

i don't tolerate nsaids anymore (ibuprofen, naproxen, topical voltaren, and even enteric coated diclofenac all cause issues). my having to stop taking ibuprofen or naproxen is what pushed me to go to the dr in the first place, we tried voltaren and diclofenac and those had the same side effects.

tramadol and codeine work well but I want to avoid these because opioids are associated with an increased risk of premature death (more than nsaids or acetaminophen), even mild ones like tramadol. the formulations I tried had me taking up to 2.4g of acetaminophen per day too so lol if i'm going to take that when acetaminophen alone takes away enough of my pain.

oxycodone does nothing for me, which is weird because i respond really well to codeine and morphine vOv

so we're going with acetaminophen (plus lifestyle changes) for now.

probably the shittiest part of getting older is the universe starts throwing you situations where you really can't win, you just chose the least-bad option.
