Arsenal are still suffering a Wenger hangover regarding the defence, when you consider they used to have a reputation as ferocious defenders who barely gave up a goal (1-0 to the Arsenal etc) byt that all went under Wenger, especially in the latter years. I don't know what Emery does defence coaching wise but Lee Dixon was very telling on Quickly Kevin when they asked him what he would've been like if he had come through under Wenger instead of George Graham and his regimented defensive drills and Dixon's answer was 'Hector Bellerin'.

I think Xhaka is Arsenal's Lingard. He was signed for a big fee at the time, occasionally pulls a screamer out of the bag and seemingly everyone with authority forgot to ever assess his contribution/progress. The best bit is he was making noises like he felt he could move to a better team than us a few months ago, seemingly unaware he is one of our biggest problems.

I don't think Emery is great, and our ability to defend set pieces is definitely his fault, but not sure you can blame him for the two balls flashed across the six yard box our big money signings couldnt tap in.
