The ghost in the shell music tieback to Kenji Kawai is amazing. The anime is amazing, especially chapter 9. PS: I recommend playing the female character. It just fits better.

Currently on File 08 and I love this anime as hell game that where I either get an S+ rank in 20 seconds or get a D Rank even though I used every Legion and skill in my repertoire. Like sometimes I do moves and I don't even know how I do them. At one point I Chain Bound a thing in mid-air during a counter? I can give my dog my sword and have him attack with it? Is there someplace where I can check the command attacks for the X-Baton? Because I've unlocked five and only know how to do two.

I mean, yes, it's a bit earlier than the game will tell you than information normally but you learn it fairly early on and knowing it doesn't give anything away. Also unless it comes up in the postgame they never really deal with what the chimeras/astral plane want with humanity anyway, so it's more of a weird setting detail than a plot point

Between Yoseph's profile data, some comments Jena makes, and optionally the timeline in the artbook (which is annoyingly unavailable in North America), you can piece together that they're trying to redshift the entire planet so they can "archive" it and start over. Yoseph tries to take over the process with Noah so he can rule over whatever comes next for all the data that used to be humanity, but the player messes that up and presumably humanity escapes the reset button until whenever the next archival time is.

I have to say, the fact that the skin color you initially choose is also the one your brother/sister has is pretty neat. You can change your characters skin later though, and go wild and give yourself red skin, blue skin, or other skin colors you unlock. I think its really good, but considering the plot goes into cloning your sibling, I see why they have your sibling just have default black hair and the skin tone you initially choose. I'd guess it won't be too much longer before his next project is revealed. Also Inaba has openly said that Takahisa Taura, director of this game + designer of Nier Automata, is their new superstar lol

Are the random recycle items just fodder to sell? I see some of em in my item stack worth 15k and that's a lot, but like, I'm not sure if there's going to be a use for these cracked and broken helmets or whatever later.

This game good The gyroscope balancing minigames are frustrating, but maybe easier with handheld mode- Is the Pro Controller gyroscope extremely sensitive? Or maybe I was walking fast one time and slow another time  And the dumbos running around make it ten times worse.

Beat the game, solid 8/10. The platforming bits were annoying and the grading system gets kind of arbitrary to the point where I can literally die three times and get an S+ or do a fight flawlessly, but too quickly and get a B Plot spoilers I'm not sure if I like or dislike the game never really explaining what was up with the astral plain, or why everyone has a cube The final fight involving a big glowblob against a bunch of your brother who is a bunch of purple cubes now was a bit abstract for my tastes and he was a bit too much of a hp wall. Jena is one of the least effective antagonists I've seen in a while. "Hey everyone, I know the whole plot but I'm mostly just going to broadcast vague things on television/imply your shady boss -might- be a jrpg villain." Very stylish lady with cool arm blade at least. Lappy is good, and the most villainous thing was Marie getting assigned to traffic cop. Hal not having a metal gear was disappointing Max is the Axe legion now which is weird? His backstory of being the mysterious cat man is great. Going around blue-shifting people was neat and probably one of my favorite little things

Ok gently caress those shield minion things into the ground. They completely destroy the flow of combat and are just miserable to fight. Especially the flying ones in file 4.

So, I'm sitting at what I have to assume is the last boss ( Noah Prime ) and boy howdy do I hate it. This chromed out bitch just has everything I hate, boatloads of damage, bad hitboxes, one-shot kills, three separate types of stuns, teleporting off camera and knocking 1000 health off before I can even find it. Christ there's a full phase where it just plays keep-away and I'm pretty sure it has more health than all the other bosses combined. I hate it to the point where I'm forgetting if I even liked the rest of the game. At this point I'm just hoping this is a Dark Souls thing and bitching on the internet will somehow let me win. It does seem like each successive gold slime gets harder to kill. It started out easy, just whacking away with baton and Sword Legion, but after killing 3 or 4 I can barely hit them anymore. Or maybe it's because I switched from Casual to Pt Standard. Next time I'm going to try a Stun Grenade.

I just launch the Legion at them over and over. Each hit does 1 damage and they only seem to have about 5 hitpoints.

Well I just reached the flying agile barriered enemy that you have to blade mode in File 04 and I am so done with this game. Can't believe they not only added in all these crappy sides but decided to combine them into a single enemy.
