Dust Wars 2 electric Boogaloo? If anyone wants to give remastered another chance they did work their asses off to approximate the formations of HW Classic and squadrons actually do work quite well now. Arc Hammer fucked around with this message at 19:21 on Aug 31, 2019 |

One thing I haven't checked since they patched Remastered is if you can still do a doom fleet by maxxing out your fleet cap with salvage Corvettes amd stealing the entire enemy.

I'm also fine with sjet being ageless. It goes nicely with her being Unbound from physical limitations when she was plugged into the mothership.

Few space RTS games take advantage of full 3D space. Homeworld does it best but I wish it was more intuitive to use different vectors and to make it easier to angle your ships and take advantage of different elevations. The best thing about Homeworld is the tactical map display. It gives you a better idea of battlefield orientation than the main map view. If there was a way to view all of the essential data and ship details on the tactical map I'd play the entire game from that view.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q38556KTTR0 Rob Cunningham of Relic and now Blackbird Interactive talks about how Homeworld came to be. His comments about when Gearbox bought the Homeworld rights really makes me relieved that things turned out the way they did. With Randy buying the rights just for shits and giggles it could have been kept in cold storage for all time. Arc Hammer fucked around with this message at 21:46 on Apr 17, 2020 |

I really hope Homeworld 3 gets the time and funding it needs. I really like the 3D movement of the Homeworld games but it could still be improved.

I'm hoping that the megalith is located "here". Assemble a strike group and investigate the wreckage. Research indicates we can now build megalith salvage technology. Production underway.

Hey, the Kushan / Higaaran people could probably build a microfusion tyre in an afternoon. Or about five minutes after encountering a set of fusion depleting road spikes.

It's called Paul Ruskay's soundtrack. Also the copious use of warm colored nebulae for backdrops.

The enemy is located here. Build a strike force and eliminate all hostile alien vessels. I like the tac-com officer's voice. He's a professional barely containing his emotions and when they peek out a bit its noticeable.

The mysticism in HW1 is only evident in the user manual and in the Bentusi's elevated speech patterns. The Kushan themselves are defined by straightforward pragmatism and an empirical approach to every new challenge they encounter on their pilgrimage to Hiigara. HW2 plays into prophecy a lot more with its retcon that the hyperspace core was one of three unique cores needed to open the gate network and all that predestination prophecy. The Hiigarans are still mostly straightforward but more willing to buy into the Bentusi's lofty mysticism as they fight against the definitely religious Vaygr.

It's been forever since I played the un patched version of the game but wasn't the level scaling I 2 absolutely bonkers to the point where you could end up facing six battleceuisers and three dozen missile destroyers if you managed to maintain a large fleet? HW2 feels like a story where time constraints dictated things needed to happen rather than organically leading to those things happening. The Bentusi sacrifice is the biggest offender. Why are the Bentusi gone? Because they needed the harbor ship to sacrifice itself for the story. No other reason. It's a cliff notes version of what thw story could have been and unlike HW1's episodic nature it doesn't work well. The Kushan are in unknown territory facing the weird remnants of the galaxy. HW2 has you jumping between attacks on Vaygr outposts to defend the homeworld and then the Bentusi dropping out of nowhere to say "here's the plot macguffin get going"

KOTEX GOD OF BLOOD posted:at least some of the bentusi escaped to another galaxy in HWC No real need to spoil that. Relic didn't make Cataclysm and I think there's maybe one passing mention of the Somtaw in the early "defend Hiigara" missions before the Kithiid are dropped entirely.

It's impressive how, in an industry filled with monolithic rear end in a top hat companies like EA, Activision, Ubisoft and Take Two, Gearbox still manages to stand out for sheer scuzz factor.
