I feel like I've been getting overly hosed on lands in draft. The times I have two in hand and only need a third to play something are ridiculous, and I don't know the average but drawing only lands where it's the exact amount of cards I'm down to my opponent the next game feels equally tilting

What are the odds of only drawing lands for the first 5-8 turns?

How many lands are you running on average? Are you keeping two land hands on the play? Because that is no bueno and the Variance Gods will punish you for it more often than not.

I tend to run the default 17 unless I have like one 5+ mana card in which case I'll reduce

And I definitely have a hard time pressing the mulligan button and tend to keep 2 land hands. Feel like I get messed up with 3-5 land hands and draw only lands more often than mana screw

Despite my mana and screwing happening very close together in games, the percentages sounds about right

15% chance for mana flood is probably right over a wide range, just seemed to happen consecutively rather than with a break in between. Feels bad

you have two good escape cards so you don't need filler like cunning. you don't have enough ways of turning arena trickster on for it to be good at all. nexus wardens is a 1/4 in an aggro deck. oread is a 1/3 in an aggro deck. you have nessian wanderer, a low curve and a good enchantment count so you can easily get away with 16 lands.

putting wings, impending doom and/or triumph of anax on some big idiot is basically your only way of closing out games so put those cards in. the part where you have no good big creatures at all - not even a skophos warleader, let alone a voracious typhon - makes me think you went way too cute on gallia. i do not like where this deck is going, generally.

Didn't get offered anything bigger than the brute, unfortunately. Only things I skipped for satyrs was a warbriars. The mistake might have been going for r/g in general, though it was semi free as seen from my picks. Didn't see any major removals in other colors (black and white) so the green enchantment removal seemed good in comparison

Appreciate the help, I'll try and record draft offerings next time

Edit: no other escape cards offered, should've said

p2p6: I would be on Omen of the Sea, Itchy Fish, Pious Wayfarer, and Hero of the pride before Shoal Kraken.
p2p7: again, Pious Wayfarer is way better than seagaurd, seems in general you are not valuing that card at all, which I would reconsider because its very good.
p3p2: I need to know your logic here, you are obviously in white and yet you pass Heliod's intervention for a stern dismissal? What is up with that?

I don't tend to value Pious Wayfarer very highly. I see it work well for my opponents but never have the same luck

And I've never used Heliod's to great effect, went for the cheap removal instead. I think I value stern dismissal higher than you and that may be wrong

Draft: https://www.17lands.com/draft/dce1e1aed30d460fa7aed2253e5739ec

I tried to stay open pack 1 but seemed blue white was the obvious choice pack 2. Seemed to be rewarded

Deck: https://www.17lands.com/deck/dce1e1aed30d460fa7aed2253e5739ec

This deck is a little top heavy, so not entirely sure. Thinking shatter helps that? Could see adding a lower curve and removing it though

First premier draft for Kaladesh, first 7 wins in a loooooong time. P1P1 was Chandra, but MVPs were definitely Propeller Pioneer, Aerial Responder, and Spireside Infiltrator paired with Fairgrounds Warden and Revoke Privileges. Only pulled off the Chief of the Foundry and servo combo one time, and it was definitely not worth it but it baited removal. Flying is really good if you can remove their flying creatures too

Thanks for the advice. Went 7-2 with this thanks to your suggestions. Wilt was incredible, I was definitely undervaluing enchantment/artifact removal thinking rec sage would be enough. Honestly, and take this with some confirmation bias, having an untapped land might have helped instead. If I had one of the draw engines out I was never in need of more plays. If anything I was short on removal, and I played hagra mauling as a land in every game but one. Untapped lands helped me make the bigger plays sooner

But it still may have been a mistake to not put it in

Pup is really low impact and not castable early with this mana base. The Ox and Vault Robber are super clunky but they're a concession for BO1 with only 3 <=2MV creatures I actually want to play.

Mana base should be: 7 Plains 1 Swamp 4 Mountain, Axgard Armory, BW RB RW duals, Shimmerdrift Vale. So 11W 4B 7R ignoring the treasure generators.

Could have used more early white creatures to make the Picks useful, but you can play like a slower deck and try to survive to take advantage of Koll, Skald recursion and Halvar's sword half. It will probably go poorly with no interaction but thems the breaks
