This is probably an impossible question to answer, but:

If my primary colors I play with are green and red, would crafting four Rampaging Ferocidons in anticipation of historic be a good idea? I've been pretty disciplined with not crafting wildcards--especially knowing/figuring/hoping? dual lands are in Eldraine--but I don't want to be staring down the barrel of 8 rares for a potentially staple red creature a few weeks from now.

I've played literally nothing but golos/fields the last 10ish matches in ranked. Think I'm done with ranked for the next 11 weeks, which is a real shame.

If anyone is looking for quick wins in Brawl, I'm 12-2 with the Torbran deck.

Commander
1 Torbran, Thane of Red Fell (ELD) 147

1 Chandra's Regulator (M20) 131
1 Dwarven Mine (ELD) 243
1 Castle Embereth (ELD) 239
1 Mask of Immolation (M20) 151

When playing against 5-cost commanders I've usually got the game in the bag by the time they can even cast their commander.

Also, did not know what a Thane was. Guess it was sort of an early medieval majordomo in England and Scandinavia?

Fires of Invention may be my new favorite card.

I've always fancied myself an aggro player--and still do--but it's so fun when you resolve a Fires and to go loving bananas. Fires--> Ritual of Soot or Fires--> Drawn from Dreams feels soooo good.

For those upthread saying they feel like their Fires opponents always have it on turn four, I wish. But that's been part of the fun of playing it, trying to tune a deck that can survive long enough (or just win outright) to draw it.

My main problem is I feel like I need to trim down my wish board and include more actual sideboard cards. As it stands my wishboard is 8 cards and my sideboard is just 4x Duresses and 3x Negates.

Edit: may as well post my list, any input/feedback would be appreciated.

Deck
4 Fires of Invention (ELD) 125
1 Mountain (RTR) 265
3 Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God (WAR) 207
3 Swamp (DAR) 258
3 Island (M19) 266
2 Chandra, Awakened Inferno (M20) 127
2 Liliana, Dreadhorde General (WAR) 97
3 Murderous Rider (ELD) 97
2 Noxious Grasp (M20) 110
3 Fae of Wishes (ELD) 44
4 Thought Erasure (GRN) 206
3 Drawn from Dreams (M20) 56
2 Ritual of Soot (GRN) 84
2 Enter the God-Eternals (WAR) 196
4 Narset, Parter of Veils (WAR) 61
4 Watery Grave (GRN) 259
3 Temple of Epiphany (M20) 253
3 Blood Crypt (RNA) 245
3 Steam Vents (GRN) 257
2 Fabled Passage (ELD) 244
2 Castle Vantress (ELD) 242
2 Dismal Backwater (M20) 245

Sideboard
1 Time Wipe (WAR) 223
1 Planewide Celebration (WAR) 172
4 Duress (M19) 94
1 The Elderspell (WAR) 89
1 Chandra, Awakened Inferno (M20) 127
1 Casualties of War (WAR) 187
3 Negate (RIX) 44

Puttered around gold 4 for about 2 weeks with gixis fires in trad standard, tried out trad historic last night with this mono G stompy pile and zoomed to platinum.

Deck
4 Llanowar Elves (DAR) 168
20 Forest (DAR) 269
4 Lovestruck Beast (ELD) 165
4 Steel Leaf Champion (DAR) 182
2 Yorvo, Lord of Garenbrig (ELD) 185
3 Once Upon a Time (ELD) 169
4 Pelt Collector (GRN) 141
3 Paradise Druid (WAR) 171
3 The Great Henge (ELD) 161
3 Vivien, Arkbow Ranger (M20) 199
3 Questing Beast (ELD) 171
1 Karn's Bastion (WAR) 248
2 Burning-Tree Emissary (GTC) 216
2 Field of Ruin (XLN) 254
1 Ghalta, Primal Hunger (RIX) 130
1 Ghalta, Primal Hunger (RIX) 130

Sideboard
4 Veil of Summer (M20) 198
2 Naturalize (M19) 190
1 Vivien, Arkbow Ranger (M20) 199
3 Nullhide Ferox (GRN) 138
3 Shifting Ceratops (M20) 194
2 Vivien Reid (M19) 208

Would love any input. Sideboard probably needs work (I've used the feroxes but they still seem out of place). Karn's bastion seems cute with good synergy but I've literally never used it once for anything other than mana.

Also, the trad historic meta seems WIDE open. Only decks I saw more than once were bant ramp (2-0) and golos fields (1-2). Saw a RDW that was pretty vicious but still pulled out the W.

Making mono-colored decks more viable in this Standard seems like a good thing.
