It’s obvious why the SQ42 video is delayed. The media team made the mistake of recording the actual game and Crobear lost his poo poo when he saw it. They will now be pre rendering the whole thing as a trailer.

In the last 500 years, the Fourth Stimpire has dominated four systems, which it has united into one starzone, Stimsis. The Fourth Stimpire has origins from the Ten Empire War in which 10 of the United Stimpires revolted against each rules. All empires except for the fourth swore freedom upon their citizens. There is no free speech in the Fourth Stimpire, and all self-controlled transportation has been made illegal without undergoing painful medical verification methods, in which arteries are severed without pain resistant, operated entirely by machines. The way they work claim to be the most hygenic and healthy way possible, but these machines often rub against pain points, causing great deals of pain to patients. The heart is then extracted from the body and placed into a glass grinding machine. Various energy centers are also dissected and replaced with dangerous transplants. After the painful, 52 hour surgical procedure, patients will then have to use a fused guidance tool, which pumps painful resistors into the body every 2 hours. The pain they have caused is so bad, the victim would freeze in a tense position. They would then collapse afterwards.

Sexual stimulation in any way within the grounds of the Fourth Stimpire is strictly prohibited, and anyone detected even touching their sexual organs will be subjected to a penectomy or if the offender was a female, they would then have a razor inserted into their ovaries. They would pump a blue solution into the womb until the stitchings burst. Offenders would also be forced to show their operated areas in public, and they would always harass and punch them to a pulp, against their will.

Otherwise, offenders would be tazed with the worst type of electricity in the systematic district, causing so much pain, the victim would scream and flail in madness. The pain would also triple every second, but no death would be incurred. This is also used in combat against enemy units, which is why all UEE forces must wear the upgraded suit to block this effect.

However, enertainment is also questionable in UEE grounds. Sporting events end with the losing team being rounded into a grinder and shredded on live television, boxing matches end with the loser having their hands removed without anasthesia, flight races would end with the losers having their arms and legs removed, then being injected with insanity, for entertainment. People are also forced into these events, by undergoing a painful 127 hour procedure which involves tweaking the muscles so they will not listen to brain commands, and then having a painful drug injected which also causes madness if the player is not sporting. This is all for entertainment, and anyone not watching any of it during sporting times and cheering for the winning team, they will be imprisoned into galactic camps.

Snuff films are also broadcast, and actors are actually murdered just for entertainment. Stealth droids also guide these forced actors into behaving exactly as the director dreams, otherwise they will be punished by being placed into a macerator and having their execution written into the film. Any film that does not feature someone being murdered will be burned and the entire crew behind it will be executed in the most grotesque way possible - vivisection.

All executions are broadcast, and anyone who misses even a millisecond, even by blinking, will be executed. All citizens must boo to the person being executed, and the family is gathered to be injected with eternators, which cause pain forever, making them immoral but feeling the pain tenfold every millisecond. They cannot pass out, but they will feel like it forever.

Conquests by this Stimpire end in the planet being razed, and all the citizens being executed in the same way as their citizens are. The planet is then destroyed and all remnants of it are removed, and any memories of it will be erased instantly from civil minds. People who are also killed are also erased from memories, and all memories of them, including toys and pictures, are destroyed.

Prisoners undergo 40,000 years of relentless and endless labor, and anyone not complying is sentenced to the eternator injection. All prisoners injected with eternators are placed into capsules and launched into far space, then the room is closed tight to ensure maximum insanity. Some prisoners are also subjected to the removal of blood, the lungs, the liver, the genitals, the skeleton, the muscles, the eyes, and even the injection of pressure. Prisoners sentenced to pressure chambers are locked in until they are inflated to a high level. The decompression is then stopped to make sure they are inflated and uncomfortable.

Children born on the 14th of July are subjected to the removal of their skeleton and an implant of a silver liquid to replace it. The nervous sysem is also injected in various parts to ensure it is five times more sensitive than the average.

Restaurants also are ordered to serve civil meat, and anyone attending must give themself up to be cooked into a grotesque meal. They are cooked alive, undergoing extreme pain, and are then subjected to industrial grinders and blenders. The Stimpire orders at least 1 million citizens to be dispatched every day, as they are afraid the population may overthrow them. But only one planet is cared for, and the rest are banned from eating, drinking, talking, using technology, touching anyone, wearing unauthorized clothes, touching buildings, or walking a centimeter out of designated routes. Civil enforcers are on every planet, and they are engineered so that they are 40 times larger than the 300 quadrillion population. At least 7 billion die every 12 hours under this rule.

Thoughts are also surveyed, and anyone who does not think anything to loving the Stimpire with more than their capabilities will be sentenced to a prison. Prisoners who are punished for this violation will meet their greatest fear, only to have it amplified so they will turn insane as they imagine it exactly as they fear it. They then undergo a painful extraction of all fluids, to be replaced by a toxin which causes permanent irritation. The unknown substance keeps the subject aging normally, except they will never die. Prisoners punished in this way are unable to be reverted, despite many efforts, and they will never be able to be disposed.

The sickening truths have been revealed only today, and invigilation teams are still investigating the truths without setting foot in the galactic space of this sickening empire.

the way that the backers have to understand every little tech widget that makes up this game amuses and baffles me.

Its like waiting for a book to come out and constantly asking the author to post blogs on the Noun pipeline or Adverb technology that's never been seen before. And the material that the cover will be made of - Fibrous Organic Material or iFib if you prefer, the glue that binds it together it clearly better than any other glue - goes by the name of Sticking One Paper Object To Another or SOPTA.

All of the above is just because there is literally gently caress all to talk about but its still headspinning to me.

In other news, i'm fairly sure that the funding chart is now representative of a full on money laundering operation, where people can buy ships with dirty money and then clean their money by selling them at a slight discount to nerds. There is no way that Star Citizen has the profile and reputation to be attracting this money legitimately any more. Whales continuing to invest just doesnt cover it, its just to much money.

Enjoying warming my hands on the raging dung inferno of this project though so i hope the mob keep throwing in money for a few years yet

My prediction for how it will all end:

the Calders will sue CI to get their investment back - CI don't have $46m so they get placed in insolvency and asset stripped. Software assets are claimed by CryTek and incorporated into a spoof space ship scene in a Crysis game. Roberts moves into directing porn.

Also, CryTek just take it all and they make the next version of 3D Mark with it all and it's free.

I know its easy to knock Star Citizen but that Vanduul fight demo was mindblowingly dated. I was avoiding canned animations in the arcades in the 80s. It was poor gameplay then. Watching some blind Predator knock off stabbing at the knees of an enemy that isnt there anymore is not 2020 quality.

EDIT: No my rant is not over. F**king HALF LIFE had intelligent AI that flanked you. in 1998.

EDIT 2 Electric Avenue: Are we supposed to believe this is the fearsome intelligent species thats threatening the very human existance? My cat could avoid that.

EDIT 3: To be fair my cat could kill a Vanduul anyway so there is that.

Even then the rewards are pretty tenuous... i'm currently out near Beagle Point on the far side of the galaxy and its super tedious getting out there and getting home. Jumping through thousands of star systems is repetitive, not fun and very easy - there is no risk of any kind once you've done a few hundred jumps and got it down pat. Jump, rotate, fuel, rotate, jump... repeat. Get some exploration money and XP at the end but thats it.

- You can hardly differentiate white/black pieces it's more black/grey.
- The pieces all look basically the same, you can't tell which is the rook/knight/bishop/king/queen all look almost identical but are just slightly taller in that order.
- You have to manually pick up each piece and place it on the board, it's very difficult to see which piece you are selecting and where you're placing it.
- If you take a piece outside the ship and set it down it will despawn and appear back on the board. But if you take a piece and throw it from within the ship to outside the ship it will despawn but not appear back on the board.
- The only way to reset the chess board (without manually placing each piece) is to store and retrieve your ship. Sleeping/logging off also resets the board.

Chess is only Tier 0 right now, early days

I think the release of Elite: Odyssey may have an impact on the enthusiasm levels over at the SC forum, not because its amazing but because it will show how boring it is to be a spaceman. My Cyberpunk experience has been a bit uneven to date. About 5 hours in... playing Corpo the first hour or so was really hand-held on rails introduction stuff where you go where you are told, pass exams in stealth and combat, and have absolutely no freedom to just walk around and check the city out. I was wondering if this game actually sucked at that point.

Once the missions started flowing though it did open up and i've started to get the feel of being a free person in the city now, rather than some kind of killer celebrity who get chauffeured around everywhere by NPCs. Theres time to kill between missions and its getting interesting. I'm just up to the heist now where as we know from the trailers it all goes wrong.

Negative stuff so far...

Many NPCs don't move their mouths when talking... so much for the amazing face tech. Hopefully thats a bug
Buttons on my PS4 pad doing the same things... the button for crouch is the same as the button for 'fast forward cut scene' so if you happened to be in a crouch when it started, congrats you will be in a crouch until whenever the scene is over, even when you have to follow someone around doing things while they talk at you.
Blue screen crashes
some bits of the story feel on rails
Aspect ratio feels weird, too zoomed in in first person somehow. Gets problematic in fist fights or driving as you dont have any peripheral vision
EDIT: Oh and the inventory management screen and stats management screens are super old school, like something out of Morrowind

Positive stuff so far...
Absolutely tons of mechanics that will give you agency and freedom of choice... almost too many
Branching story seems to work well, i've seen videos of other players having to fight characters that i formed alliances with
Summoning Roach ahem your car is very handy

none of this is in Star Citizen apart from maybe the crashes

Aside from the copious amount of bugs, some of the criticism I'm seeing appears to be based not so much on what the game was supposed to be, but what people internally projected onto it. I'm seeing a lot of comparisons to GTA V for example, with how the open world physics are wrong etc. But I'm not certain that's what the game is supposed to be. I don't remember being able to realistically destroy people houses and knock books off the shelves in Witcher 3, or have a cascade of horse accidents and having fire spread etc. It was primarily an RPG, that locked much of the world down into set dressing to support the story. If CDPR gave people the idea that this would somehow be this open-world GTA style sandbox with realistic physics and emergent gameplay situations then they're pretty guilty of doing the exact opposite, but otherwise it's the same Potemkin Village most RPGs feature.

Yeah that's true. I think I kind of forgot that CDPR don't have any track record of making futuristic games and are good at traditional RPGs, which is very much what this is. I'm also one of the few people that didn't really super enjoy Witcher 3. I can see its a good game but I just bounced off it, like I basically did after 1 night on Cyberpunk. As soon as I had to start fiddling with stats in archaic menus I just sort of lost interest a bit. The bugs didnt actually bother me too much, and it runs fine on my PS4 Pro.

I know irony and satire are dead as far as Start Citizen is concerned, but the event thing they are about to do has been handcrafted to mimic the kind of 'emergent' gameplay they thing they will be getting with the finished game because its never going to happen otherwise. They want to be able to show videos of capital ships (with no one on them) fighting it out while people heroically rescue boxes, and will then pass it off as actual emergent gameplay.

Even though this will on-rails and scripted, my $1 is betting on the wheels coming off the whole thing pretty quickly.
