After a decade it's probably time for a new thread for people to post wrestling questions that don't deserve their own thread, and this is that... thread. This can lead into a little, limited discussion within the thread itself, or might require a simple, straightforward answer and nothing else! If a question is generating a lot of discussion, might I suggest moving it over to the appropriate Wrestling Promotion Discussion Thread where possible. In addition to relying on the completely unbiased and forward thinking minds of Rowdy Ringsports, here are some resources for answering questions you might have: The Internet Wrestling Database - "an ongoing project to create an online, interactive professional wrestling database" CageMatch - Massive Database on Wrestlers, full of statistics Online World of Wrestling - The former Obsessed with Wrestling, an incredibly useful and jampacked with information website. Wikipedia The place to find out all about events featuring professional wrestling matches with outcomes predetermined by script writers; the matches feature wrestlers portraying their characters in planned storylines that took place before, during and after the event. Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online - The most popular and (largely) well-regarded Wrestling Journalism site, run by Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez - full of information on news stories, opinions, podcasts, newsletters, match results etc. The Top Rated Matches of all time as rated by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Pro-Wrestling Torch - The biggest Wrestling Journalism site next to the Observer, run by Wade Keller - full of information on news stories, opinions, podcasts, newsletters, match results etc. Rowdy Ringsports' Matches of the Year - An ongoing tally of the best (and worst) matches of the current year as nominated by the users of this forum. Links in OP to the MOTY threads for every previous year. Places to watch wrestling: American Promotions: The WWE Network - ADDENDUM 25 JANUARY 2021: The WWE Network in the United States will be transfered to NBC's streaming network Peacock in March of 2021. A Peacock Subscription is $4.99 a month, or $9.99 a month to get rid of commercials. To date, it appears internationally the Network will remain in place. All Elite Wrestling - A brand new wrestling promotion with big money and big stars involved, AEW airs on TNT on Wednesdays for two hours from 8pm EST, with AEW Dark airing on Youtube on Tuesdays at 8pm EST. Currently PPVs have been offered in the US on Bleacher Report and on Fite TV in the rest of the world. Outside of the US you can access the weekly Dynamite show live as it airs (and then on VOD) for $5 a month on Fite.tv. Ring of Honor's Honor Club - Currently $9.99 a month, offers livestreams of all PPVs, access to the weekly television program and a VOD library. The weekly television also airs on Sinclair Broadcasting channels in the United States, you will need to check your local listings for times. Impact Wrestling - The former TNA Wrestling, airs weekly on the following channels/times worldwide but also airs replays weekly on Twitch. Chikaratopia - Chikara shut-down due to allegations in the #SpeakingOut movement over owner Mike Quackenbush. Archives can still be accessed via an independentwrestling.tv subscription. Pro Wrestling Guerrilla - No current live service or video uploads, the only way to watch is to buy DVDs directly from them. Has an extremely dedicated fanbase and is highly regarded for the quality of its live shows. Game Changer Wrestling - PPVs available through fite.tv, produces live shows that people really enjoy. National Wrestling Alliance - POWERRR shut down and NWA isn't really running anything during COVID. The Women's Champion regularly appears on AEW Dynamite. Major League Wrestling - Available live through BeIN Sports, and regular uploads are made to their Youtube channel Japanese Promotions: New Japan World - Currently 999Yen a month, includes livestreams of most shows (shows not being livesteamed is the exception, not the rule) and significant archives going back decades. Most shows are available with English commentary as an option. Be aware that in Japan, billing cycles start on the 1st of the month, regardless of how late in the prior month you signed up, so it is possible to be billed for two months within only a couple of days of each other depending on when you signed up. All Japan Pro-Wrestling TV - Currently 900Yen a month, airs major events live and has VOD going back to 2017, but none of the incredible 1990s All Japan content, which is owned by NIPPON TV. Most of those, which aren't currently legally available for purchase anywhere, can be found here. Wrestle Universe - Currently 900Yen a month, a comedy-centric Japanese wrestling promotion that also has very, very good matches. Universe also includes DDT's sister promotion Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling. Update: DDT's parent company also owns Pro-Wrestling Noah now and certain shows will be featured on Wrestle Universe Pro-Wrestling Noah - Now owned by DDT's parent company, and shows are available on their online service Wrestle Universe. Dragon Gate - Currently 1500Yen a month, includes livestreams and VOD of the entire archive. Big Japan Pro-Wrestling Core - Currently 888Yen a month, noted for its Deathmatch style wrestling. Provides livestreams and VOD. Japanese Women's Promotions (Joshi): Stardom World - Currently 920Yen a month. All shows are VOD only, but come with English subtitles and are broken down into individual matches for viewing convenience. Addendum OCT 17, 2019: New Japan's Parent Company BushiRoad now owns Stardom. At the current time there are no plans for Stardom World to change up how anything is run. Sendai Girls - Uploads via their Youtube channel. Gatoh Move - Uploads via their Youtube channel. Marvelous - Currently 600Yen a month. Pro Wrestling Diana - Intermittent uploads to their Youtube channel. YMZ - Currently 999Yen a month. Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling - Included with DDT's Wrestle Universe subscription. Mexican Promotions: AAA - Airs live on twitch, in Spanish and also with English language versions available. All TV shows and match tapings are aired on the 24/7 stream, with live airings happening at 9:30pm EST on Friday nights. CMLL - Regular uploads of shows to their Youtube channel. Schedule is as follows: Mondays Arena Puebla - 10 PM ET, Tuesdays Arena México B Show - 8:30 PM ET, Fridays Viernes Espectacular Arena México A Show - 9:30 PM ET UK/European Promotions: Progress - British Wrestling Promotion, $7.99 a month. Over the Top - Irish Wrestling Promotion, $8.50 a month. WXW Now - German Wrestling Promotion, 9.99Euro a month. Independent Promotions: Various Independent Promotions can be found here. The above lists are not exhaustive/definitive, and I can add or update anything more pertinent to them if people ask. Jerusalem fucked around with this message at 10:05 on Jan 26, 2021 |

I just found out that the dude who played Luca Brasi in the Godfather was a wrestler (and possibly also a for real made man). Anyone know anything about him or his prograps career?

So we all know the Reign of Terror was pretty bad in terms of booking overall, but in that whole sequence, what were the best matches Triple H had during that reign? Is there, indeed, anything really salvageable out of it?

Summerslam 2002 was HBK's return and was pretty good IMO. Their Hell in a Cell match in Bad Blood 2004 was the one that felt like a slog. E: remusclaw ![]()

What happened to that big WWE story Dave and Bryan said was probably going to leak over the weekend? They said it was NXT on USA big, and was a bad thing, and that it would inevitably get out.

Were the hardcore matches done by the old ECW ever as violent as CZW and their Tournament of Death? And do we really need to start a new thread?

Gaz-L posted:I just found out that the dude who played Luca Brasi in the Godfather was a wrestler (and possibly also a for real made man). Anyone know anything about him or his prograps career? A quick lookup indicates he had midcard success in the NWA during the 50s and early 60s mostly in tag teams, and was involved in storylines involving the likes of Gene Kiniski, Ray Gunkel, Eddie Sharkey, Eddie Graham. He got passed over to be Gorilla Monsoon's partner and shifted more into acting while also getting involved in the mob (he did NOT kill Dino Bravo) before The Godfather made him in demand as a heavy on tv and he was basically done with wrestling.

I just have a few questions: 1. How come Vince never pushed Adam Bomb? The guy had a decent look, and he was no worse in the ring than plenty of guys who Vince had pushed. 2. Who is the most famous WWE wrestler without a Wrestlemania appearance? It’s gotta be Kamala right?

I’m trying to think of who’d fit while avoiding those groups. Maybe Kenny Omega at this point? Stan Hansen and Bruiser Brody also come to mind. I've only watched one show so far but I think I'll try and keep up going forward, it was pretty fun. Production values ain't the highest but they do have more than one camera so I've put up with worse.
