I always thought that scene seemed weird. like maybe Rawls had been in so long that he didn't care if he risked someone finding out by spotting him at a gay bar but I'd think he'd only go to one outside the county just to be safe. e: I also haven't watched that episode in a while so maybe the location was more remote? I forget.

I watched The French Connection for the first time and holy poo poo I can't believe they got away with endangering an enormous amount of pedestrians. Amazing performances by the actors playing the detectives, they're just the worst scum. The ending is great Also, I only keep Netflix for the subtitles

speaking of marxist movies, costa-gavras is the only good leftist director and everyone should watch Z and State of Siege. the guy's still a card-carrying member of the French Communist Party and no one makes such bitterly cynical takedowns of oppressive and authoritarian systems. state of siege is also relevant cause one of its main character is pretty much brown moses (supposedly objective technocrat who's actually a stooge for the CIA)

I only have one good cry per decade on average, but Rectify was the only show that has made me nearly cry because of how moving it was. When I finished it was like finishing a great novel where you get satisfaction from how well it stuck the landing, followed by that sense of emptiness that it's over.
