i saw some people furious that game of thrones didn't get any golden globe nominations except for the one guy for acting. you know, the show that fans were universally making GBS threads on through the entire season, who are now mad that it is not being recognized for excellence.

honestly i'm kind of glad rise isn't getting either universal acclaim or derision, i'm sure i'll love it because even though star wars movies in general are bad poo poo for babies, they always hit really well with me, and it will be nice to see it without the weight of expectation.

yeah star wars was kind of a bummer. i didn't hate it but there were a lot of things started that never finished, and spending the first hour looking for a map is some prequel-rear end poo poo

the tree of life is a beautiful, devastating, frustrating, inspiring piece of visual art. it's not a very good movie, but that's not the point. it's one of those movies where the creation is the art, and the act of an audience seeing it is irrelevant to its purpose. but it's not a very good movie.

watched the 2012 les miserables because we were talking about the book here, what an exhausting movie. the revolution stuff was all pretty good, but then marius goes and gets married to the rich girl and gets rich himself, and then the movie just sort of ends. i know that's basically how the source goes too, but it seemed like the last hour just zipped by after the first two crawled, and then it was over.,

saw some movies this weekend, the vvitch which was extremely good, parasite which was extremely good, and the death of dick long which was very funny until it was extremely not - some real hard swings in that movie, weird poo poo.
