Reverend Dr posted:3 episodes in and watchmen is just a fuckin cop show with overtly fascist cops, so the writers have to make the thing they fight even worse somehow the biggest problem with watchmen is that it didn't start with a giant loving screen that said "this actually happened in tulsa because white people are obsessed with wealth" there would be a lot of room for that plot to be interesting and thought provoking but its turning into some real liberal impotent rage fantasy by muellerites also forgot holy bible by manic street preachers is 25 years old now, and also came out a week before oasis' definitely maybe

mysterious frankie posted:"It's the fate of the working class... or the middle class? Things are a lot more fluid here." there's a slim chance it'll go to a streaming service but not likely it is totally worth it though, it portrays the lost working class in modern america and has really well fleshed out characters and super capable actors also it has a character named beautiful jeff, who is more beautiful than you imagined

Freaking Crumbum posted:i can 100% believe brands would love to be able to explicitly advertise in all of the various evangelist events and concerts and etc. and it's only contemporary public sentiment that's giving them any hesitation at all lol that's a little naive, the only reason capital isn't all in selling to evangelists is because they're a dying bloc and a large chunk of evangelicals are on fixed incomes. not a lot of money there beyond extremely short term blips and scamming them through reverse mortgages or part d plans. millenials didn't hate gays as much as boomers, and religion went all in hating gays and non-whites so there wasn't much pickup, on top of the reluctance for americans to become religious in the first place the future is non-whites and white women for advertisers, just look at twitter every time any time there's a tweetstorm from people in sunglasses avatars. they aren't much of a growth industry if white men are too busy committing suicide/being addicted to heroin/drinking themselves to death

Percelus posted:as someone that watched every episode of lost it has the same message as the leftovers in the end, that being your friends and family are all that truly matter. it works better after 3 seasons of leftovers though since the show always had that at its forefront and didn't spend nearly as much time building up a mythos just to disappoint you in the end wrong the only thing that truly mattered was how loving dope of a cliffhanger it was for season 1, and then the writers being flailing all over the place without as a cohesive plot/character development laid out, a disinterested cast, and executives who demanded number go even higher
