You can see the corporate mandates smashing into the fun fan film they tried to make. Gonna try a star wars fans editing technique and see if I can extract Cole from the film.

He's also one of the best parts of MK11's story. The whole thing revolves around characters from circa MK2 being brought 20 years into the future, where they meet their future selves. Every pairing has issues. Old Johnny Cage thinks his young self is too much of a douche. Liu Kang and Kung Lao are horrified to find out that they're destined to become evil ghouls. Old Jax is messed up from PTSD and makes decisions his younger self disagrees with. MK2 Scorpion is at his angriest and worst while his MK11 self is the happiest and best version of himself.

Meanwhile, Kano and Kano spend the story straight-up eye-loving each other. Young Kano is so drat excited about how he's still kicking rear end in the future and it's great.

Urgh, the movie and this really make me wanna grab 11, but I'm holding out for gamepass. Hopefully I'm still in love with kano by then.

Does anyone even like lizard reptile? Why can't he just be a ninja guy again?

I have no issue with a lizard knowing martials arts, it's the one crazy thing I figured the games would run with.

It's not an action moment but this is by far my favorite part of the movie and one of my favorite dorky scenes ever in any movie:

The fact that the new MK didn't slowly pan up woman's body makes it superior, though they might just have put too many cuts in the shot for me to notice.

Scorpion's Revenge was a lot of fun and also better written than MK2021.

People keep saying this, but how graphic is scorpion's revenge? If it's super gory I don't want it. The perk of live action is they have to hold back in some ways when animation doesn't have to. And we already have the game if we want animation. I love the lore but I had to tap out a couple games ago as graphics caught up.

But also, live action martial arts will always be superior to me for the weightiness. Plus the fun of seeing how they implement crazy moves into the real. It's not 1 to 1 but I'm always baffled when people link their favorite clone wars show fight, and it's just a weightless swinging and twirling dance.

Disagree. Mythologies and Shaolin Monks are the only canon in my book.

drat they need to remaster those two

Well you see, because Goro was so expensive, they had to make him integral to the story, and of course "big guy in a barn" is really a role only Goro could pull off:

I'm liking Goro as a cinematic jobber. Dude loses to a quip in mk95.

True, but MK95 also hyped the hell out of him -- he got not one, not two, but three scenes before his Johnny Cage fight establishing him as someone not to be hosed with.

The dinner scene was crucial you're right, really established him as a real thing.

Slightly off topic, but I totally agree with this. I'm in my 40s, so "my" Mortal Kombat was 1-3. My friend's 11 year old son somehow got hold of one of the newer ones as we assumed it would be the same cartoony violence we grew up with.

Jesus loving Christ...

I know that part of the problem is just me growing up and becoming the modern day version of the pearl clutchers back in the 90s who demanded the blood be turned off, but there's a vindictiveness and torture-porn feeling about the game now. I grew up watching the original nasty-as-gently caress Robocop movies so graphic violence has always been hilarious, but there's something in the tone that just sits 'wrong' with me.

Then again, if I was a kid I'd think it was the most amazing thing I'd ever seen and we'd be talking in the playground about all the amazing finishing moves and competing to be the first to see the next horrific scene and calling bullshit on eachother

You're right. The originals didn't have the devs studying faces of death to get accurate viscera. The old throw some gibs on the screen technique is whimsical by comparison.

well why not posted:

Itís weird how sparse the movie felt. The training ground being like 4 people is just odd. The empty streets for the scorpion chase, and the strange choice of the ending sequence stand out.

The way feige talks about on site filming, I feel the MCU has made industry standards lax in regards to set, cinematography and choreography. Fans only care about their action figures bashing against each other.
