Poor B looks like it could be spicy for 2nd place. All the other pools look like they'd need a huge upset for the top 2 teams to fail to get out, so look out for Portugal pumping Scotland.

Someone on reddit made a good simulator for pool results and how that impacts the knockouts, made it much easier to understand/visualize for me: https://rwc2027.tiiny.site/

I assume you're putting Tonga above Wales

Thanks. Nice draw for SA. No group seems terribly lop-sided apart from that one maybe.

This is great, rhanks for sharing. Looks like SA meets NZ in the QF. Apart from France beating Wales the other QFs are hard to predict.

Thank you for being kind to Ireland, but we all know how that QF will go :qq:

Aus-NZ in the groups could be tasty.

Yeah, pretty balanced draw.

It would be against Argentina, right? I am delighted to see Argentina reach proper Tier 1 status but I think Ireland should still beat them.

What’s the expected for eye gouging?

Apparently he actually does have a decent record and has never received a red. So someone just told me, to my surprise.

Thanks. He got off pretty lightly for an inexcusable act.

Yeah, he admitted it was intentional. At that point it shouldn't matter how nice the biscuits he brings to the hearing are.

He has 141 Caps without ever seeing a red card, it's a fairly decent argument for mitigation together with essentially pleading guilty. It's not like he got off all charges.

HappyCamperGL

He did get away with an eye gouge on Henco Venter, in the URC last year. It was missed in play and the citing commissioner scandalously ignored it.

Unfortunately can't be taken into account as it is not on the record.

Also had a ban for head butting back in 2012. Which is on the record.

Did he?

Etzebeth said:
"I did not, at any stage, aim for his eyes or intend to make contact with his eye.”

The panel said:
"The Player continued pushing down, still grimacing as W7 bent 90 degrees at the waist turning away from the Player.

"We are satisfied that the Player knew what he was doing. It was intentional targeting of the face and eye."

Pled guilty to the charge of intentional eye contact is what was initially released. If he denied it, then I'm not sure how he got any mitigation for admission of guilt.

He's had a few accusations that were highlighted but not cited, the most recent against Henco Venter. He's just lucky.

I don't think the number of games played should matter at all for this kind of thing tbh

Great result last night at Ravenhill despite the weather, Ulster pulled away from a very young Racing side in the second half but the highlight was Angus Bell's debut - him and Scott Wilson making up the most electrifying prop duo in rugby today.

Definitely some potential there after a terrible season last year - dropping down to the Challenge Cup is a great development opportunity for a young squad too.

Some great matchups today too - Bath-Munster could be a smasher.

Hell of a win for Edinburgh. The scrum was either rock solid or dominant with 19 year old Blyth-Lafferty having only played 90 seconds of pro rugby before.
